Surely those at the top of the totem pole and being given massive salaries must have to take responsibility for the demise of Qantas to where it is today.Just read todays Joe Allston AFR piece on Qantas/Richard Goyder.
Titled Richard Goyder’s last supper.
It’s brilliant and brutal.
It’s hard to argue with it, the brand has been proper trashed.
And they've put a useless diversity hire in charge now too.Just read todays Joe Allston AFR piece on Qantas/Richard Goyder.

I've been on a few boards, unfortunately not paying as much as Qantas, and it is quite unbelievable how ordinary and representative of the general population board members are.Surely those at the top of the totem pole and being given massive salaries must have to take responsibility for the demise of Qantas to where it is today.
Of course that most popular be-speckled little runt has bailed out leaving the others to squirm.
Qantas is akin to some roadkill that's been there for a few days in the sun, stinksQantas actually paid up, got my $1000 Covid flight refund last week, weird refund process, no email, no receipt, no apology, but after almost 3 years they did pay me. I really did give that poor man in the Filipino call centre a piece of my mind, now to get rid of those 300000 Qantas points and end my association.
yep.Just read todays Joe Allston AFR piece on Qantas/Richard Goyder.
Titled Richard Goyder’s last supper....It’s brilliant and brutal.
Remember, Joyce (with his brother’s help) designed the algorithm for overbooking flights at Aer Lingus 30 years ago on the basis that a percentage of passengers never turn up.
That’s how he made a name for himself at the start of his career, and he’s ended it the same way. He’s optimised revenue to the point where it’s now the planes that don’t show up for the flights. It’s a logical extension.
you beat me to itReceived an email from Qantas today. A bit of grovelling but no acknowledgement that she was part of the problem over the years.

and stop doing stuff like that again@Dona Ferentes, think there is enough contrition for me to ask for my Chairman Lounge membership to be returned to me?
All these apologies and our customers are so important to us is a bit over the top. Just give them their money back!
Well this lays in on the line that others before have ground the company down.Received an email from Qantas today. A bit of grovelling but no acknowledgement that she was part of the problem over the years.

.
she missed "how do you rate my sincerity, on a scale of 1 to 100?" , but she's probably not interested in my answer.
It's not they. It's Joyce. It's always been about him. I believe new boss will be more interested in restoring the reputation and service over profits - not because of any altruistic tendencies but because restoring the reputation of Qantas will deliver her a better opportunity within corporate Australia and the world to further her own career. Good for Aussies, bad for shareholders.and stop doing stuff like that again
how many scandals have they had over the last 20 years , fuel surcharges , baggage fees etc etc
I've been flying Qantas for a very long time and in the past week or two I've seen flight attendants walk around offering beers and wine (in economy) after the initial food and drink services. Haven't seen regularly this since maybe 2017. Something has obviously come down the ranks to lift their game. The open comments section on the youtube video is delicious. And telling.
So far, they've said at least some of the right things. Let's see if they walk the walk.
Qantas pilots are calling for the airline’s chairman, Richard Goyder, to resign, describing his position as untenable after the High Court found the company had illegally sacked almost 1700 employees.
In a letter to its members on Monday, the Australian and International Pilots Association said Mr Goyder and other directors had “overseen what may well be one of the most damaging periods in Qantas’ history”.
“It demonstrates how out of touch the board is with the frontline staff, the very people who will be needed to restore Qantas to its former glory,” said AIPA president Tony Lucas. “It is a failure of leadership to not be willing to do something that you have asked your team to do.”
Directors on one board looking after mates on another board. Stuff-ups or competence and damage done are ignored.Meanwhile the Industry Superannuation Funds back Goyder to the hilt.
gg
and pilots who don't like the board and management (putting it mildly)Politics aside, POO, jet fuel and a low Aussie isn't helping....tough times for the flying kangaroo.
