Doesn't surprise me really.It was explaining the weaning popularity of the band because of the advent of the punk rock movement and in particular the Sex Pistols. In my partial awareness I thought I heard it reported that that band was a particular fan of ABBA.
Wut? Wut? WTF?
Sure enough that's what was reported on the show.
Truth is stranger than fiction.
Paul Cook (Sex Pistols' drummer) was also the original producer, and later a drummer, for Bananarama after all so he's had some actual involvement with pop.

Quite a few odd things happen in music in terms of who does what if you look at the details of who worked on a recording and so on. There's a lot of cross over between bands, someone worked on an individual song for someone else etc, and a lot of them are things that aren't a logical fit.
