Hi miner....

Lynas Rare Earths Limited (“Lynas”) (ASX:LYC, OTC:LYSDY) will announce its full year results for the period ending 30 June 2023 on the morning of Tuesday 29 August 2023.

I will probably look at their EOFY Rpt later this week, or maybe over the W/e.....

Lynas Rare Earths' long-time director and chair Kathleen Conlon will retire at the end of the group's annual meeting on November 29.

Ms Conlon has been on the Lynas board for 12 years, including three years as chair.

Director John Humphrey, on the board since May 2017, will take over as chairman.

Quarterly report to 30 September 2023 published Friday evening (20/10/23).

LYC reported a 21.8 per cent fall in first-quarter revenue, due to lower production.
Lynas’ sales revenue for the quarter was $128.1 million, down from $163.8 million a year ago, and from $143.7 million in the June quarter.

The company is preparing to shut down all its operations in Malaysia with the exception of its mixed rare earth carbonate processing plant. The rest would close from mid-November to upgrade the facilities, allowing some workers to assist with Lynas’ new rare-earths processing plant in Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.

Minimal volumes of the rare earths would be processed in Malaysia during the shutdown. As part of the shutdown, LYC will upgrade its downstream operations to increase production of neodymium-praseodymium (NdPr) to about 10,500 tonnes per annum.

LYC is very hopeful that its Malaysian High Court appeal will be successful and allow the company to keep importing and processing rare earths. Should the appeal fail, then Malaysia’s ban is set to come into force on 1 January 2024.

The Lynas downstream operations at Kuantan produced 1526 tonnes of NdPr in the September quarter from rare earths mined at Mount Weld in WA.

The average Chinese domestic price of NdPr fell from $US60 ($95) a kilogram in the June quarter to $59 a kilogram in the September quarter, and down from $US94 kilogram in the same period last year.

Been trying to warn punters of Lithium,s shortcomings since early 2022 when LYC was abt $11, nothing has changed for the better since then, so, no more analysis on LYC from me, no point me repeating the same theme, it's getting a bit boring....

It's more about rare earths isn't it DrB?

I'm attracted to this as a long term supplier outside the China chain. If things turn to custard over Taiwan then Lynas might be one of the very few companies to be able to feed the West rare earths. Could be a game changer. But, I suppose we shouldn't make investment decisions on the unlikely case of major conflict.

It is not just conflict, a war. Certainly a game changer, no argument there …

The Chinese have purposely placed ‘a squeeze’ on REE supply, in the past and upset everyone because they can !!!

Prices skyrockets …

Then the squeeze’ is gently incrementally and purposely released … cause they can …

The US defence force requires **** loads of REE for their jet fighters and other killing machines mass destruction or otherwise. No REE when they want it … then there is a major problem … regardless of price, just another Trillon over budget ha ha ha

It may well be the case, extreme rcw1 knows, but we are dealing with imbeciles … that Xi Jinping don’t like the way Biden is looking at him or had said … during a mumble … ha ha ha
Funny yes until something serious happens …

So China pulls the rug on REE exports to the US of A that will set off a price war as the US looks to source some REE from its best buddy LYC …

Well hello, ... what's LYC doing then:
  • the first feed of material from Mt Weld has been introduced into the Kalgoorlie Rare Earths Processing Facility on or about 7 December;
  • Mixed Rare Earth Carbonate from the Kalgoorlie Rare Earth Processing Facility will be progressively introduced to the Lynas Malaysia plant commencing late in the March quarter and increasing as the controlled ramp up of the Kalgoorlie facility is progressed;
  • Process:




  • US Rare Earth Facility - Co-located Heavy and Light Rare Earths Processing Facility in Seadrift, Texas;
  • US$258 million approx. U.S. DoD grant funding for HRE plant and US$30 million matched grant funding from U.S. DoD for LRE plant 2,500-3,000tpa approx;
  • HRE products 5,000tpa approx. LRE products Including 1,250tpa approx. of NdPr
  • Targeted to be operational July 2025 – June 2026
So the ducks are lining up.

rcw1 has entered LYC in the yearly stock competition. Woopy do the cows went moooooo ... Other than it being rcw1 most traded stock, why so... ???
The aforementioned post from Thursday 28 December, clearly identifies reasons why this stock is looking most favourable in 2024.

The most promising though for mine, will be consolidation of Heavy and Light Rare Earths Processing Facility in Texas during the 2024 calendar year. This idea, was brought about from a LYC thought bubble, back in 2020 from memory. LYC technological staff had been sent over to the US of A to assist. Didn't really believe they could pull it off, actually, or for that matter, so quickly... Anyways not done and dusted just yet, but certainly most promising. From memory also, no heavy rare earth processing gets performed outside of China.

Australia has engaged with the United States, India and Japan to combat China's excessive control over the supply of minerals essential to modern technology ... see below article...

LYC very near 12 month SP low. Interesting really as Goldman has Lynas shares on its Asia-Pacific conviction buy list. It says Lynas shares are undervalued, trading at just 0.8 times NAV (A$7.99 per share), with a strong balance sheet at net cash of $570 million. The broker has a 12-month price target of $7.70 on this ASX rare earths share.

We have continued to seek out the best relative long term value in companies that meet our quality threshold during the half year. As a result, a new position in IGO (part-owner of the world’s lowest-cost large-scale lithium mine, Greenbushes) was added and we continued to add to our recent addition, Lynas Rare Earths (the only scale producer of rare earths material outside of China). While subsequent share price falls suggest that we bought these too early, we remain comfortable with our investment thesis and the long-term outlook for each.

1/4erly results period ending 31 December 2023 will be released on Monday. Sure to make a difference on where the SP will go. Being a betting man, not a very good one, but still a punter from way back, reckon the SP will increase ...

I don't hold this and haven't followed it closely.

There was some discussion on yesterdays Money of Mine podcast regarding the Kalgoorlie plant and a change of heart from Malaysia.

Its at about the 20 minute mark, on youtube or podcast if interested.

hmmmmmmmmmm looks like rcw1 got to drop his pants and run around the block ....

Good thing didn't buy in and sat back and waited for the 1/4erly report card ... the company couldn't quite provide that satisfactory explanation to shareholders, with the halt in production to fix up their Malaysian operations. Sales revenue of $112.5m and sales receipts of $107.1m was too low a performance. Low of $5.75. Plenty of sellers around today.
