It's Raining

Well the forecast for today was rainfall between 9-25 mm So far a miserable 2mm has dropped from the sky.
Appears that South of Perth may have copped it.

So after a disappointing day with little to no rain, this evening really turned i ton.
Thunderstorms and rain, real rain and to date the gauge says nearly 28 mm.

Just down at Bells Rapids eating my lunch and the river now has a set of factory amount of water flowing through now... The Avon descent should be a good one this year after all.

@wayneL If the next few days BOM forecasts are near the mark then there should be plenty of white water coming down the Avon.
I noticed today when I went past Noble Falls the flow has improved a bit after the recent rainfall.

It's hammering down here in the valley ATM.

Another decent rain event last night and into this morning. 47mm in the gauge so far with perhaps a heap more today.
The Avon catchment is forecast to cope a soaking so this will auger well for the annual Avon descent shortly.

Beem getting a fair bit of aqua dropping on us this week.
So much so, that the current fencing job I'm on makes it hard to get going.
About 4/5ths of the post holes will be rock and as such rain and rock dust don't mix too well, just turns to slop and the posts will take forever to settle.
Gives time to do a bit indoors and take it easy.

Ever used a post driver? I had one in Qld on the back of 35hp Kubota on this 237 acre property we had. It was the Duck Nuts

Mind you, didn't have any damned capstone either. Are you drilling throughout that crap?

Post drivers aplenty.
Manual, petrol and air driven.
Coffee rock of varying degrees of hardness.
Once that rock dust is wet it turns into slop.
Star pickets down 600mm and bore casing strainers down 900mm with about 100kg of cement to lock them in.

Winter is still with us with a hefty recording of rain overnight 33mm and a bit more today.
Never seen so much water inside the first couple of bays in the machinery shed, ankle deep.
Outside the shed area is just a lake, but the grass is liking the wet, as it is slowly moving upward.
A couple of moderate sunny days will get it really going.

Finally all the creeks at the Red Hill Farm are now in full flow. Taken awhile but good to see.

My family's place at Stoneville had a creek running through it and when flowing in winter the whole place used to light up as the frogs, gilgies etc numbers increased, tiger snakes enjoyed it to :)

@IFocus Stoneville is where we started way back in 1979, over the road to Hillston and nearby to the Research Station

Looking at the BOM forecast for the next 3 days and taking into account that they have looked out of the window and stuck a wet finger outside to test the atmosphere it looks like about 80-odd mil may land on us.
If this is the case, then little will be achieved outdoors.

Great, Muggins here is officiating at Woorooloo three day event. Looks like I'll be getting wet. :(

As it has been raining/drizzling for most of the day, and I have decided to make a managerable decision and stay inside by the warming wood fire (burning only jarrah of course), and the opportunity to take an afternoon kip is on the cards. So I'm off.

Well, the dire forecast of storms and dumping rain has not happened as yet. 18mm overnight with a bit of thunderstorm about 8.30am.
Still, this is enough water on top of the rest we have received in the past week to leave the paddocks in a sodden state.
