It's Raining

Looking at the current weather map that affects me it would appear that the rain clouds and storms have gone for the time being.
Though I haven't yet checked the rain gauge the BOM site says 5.2 mm has hit the deck.
Perfect soaking stuff with no damage caused.
Unfortunately, there is a downside to this as there will be little to no run-off into the very dry dams at the Red Hill farm.

Yeah enough to dampen the dust and maybe cause some germination.

Better than nothing but pretty disappointing so far.

Wayne I am happy with what has fallen. Biggest fear for us was the paddock slopes which haven't been affected.

Today's forecast of rain and thunderstorms seems to have been a mirage at BOM.
We did get a bit of a shower and a bit of a rumble, but patchy skies are the norm by the looks of it for the of the rest of today.

Though it is not raining at the moment the pea soup fog is making everything just as wet as if it was.
Looks as if I will have a couple of hours to navel gaze this morning.

Over 300mm this week around Sydney to Newcastle, we have had enough, hopefully you get a turn soon
Adelaide's had 301mm.

Since the 10th of July 2023 that is. :xyxthumbs

Total for 2024 to date is 76.2mm of which 34.8mm fell in a single event on the 26th of January and 26.4mm fell on other days that month.

February = zero
March = 3.0mm
April = 12.0mm
May = zero thus far

Most recent was 0.2mm on 20th of April.

Much of the country's been extremely wet the main inhabited parts of WA and SA are dry, as is practically all of Tasmania and most of Victoria except around Melbourne. This map shows it clearly

Higher temps forecasted, this May has to be the hottest on record if it keeps going, inland crops must be hoping for thunderstorms could be a patchy year.

Another 40mm overnight, the city dams are overflowing.........

Hey rain gods send it west please..........

Surf forecasters were saying some time ago another La Nina likely... more rain.

The forecast for today is not what we actually got.
Showers in the early morning and then supposed to peter off.
I got caught with a couple of unexpected downpours when I was feeding the bovines this afternoon.
Today's tally up till sunset was 10mm and we had a couple of misty showers early in the evening.
Is a good start as the rain was not that heavy to cause any damage.
No run-off into the dams though, that could be on Wednesday and later in the week as a substantial amount is forecast.
