Interactive Brokers Troubleshooting

I have another question.

I'm looking at getting data for the FTSE futures.

There are two different ones on here:
- Euronext Total (NP, L2) = 37 EUR
- Euronext Basic (NP, L1) = 5 EUR

Does anyone know what the difference is between these? Which one is the one for me to get?

Thanks,
Matt

I don't think the FTSE is Euronext. Its LIFFE EqtyDeriv.

The Dif between L2 or Li is L2 is markets depth L1 is just best bid and ask.

I use the symbol "Z" on the LIFFE exchange for FTSE100 index futures, 10 GBP per tick

Ok cool. I see that there are two. One for 45 EUR and another for 35 EUR

Is the one in red the best one to get or the one down the bottom?

Do these both have volume on the charts?

I worked out what is happening.

The LIFFE Equity Derivatives are for PRO

My account is Non-Pro. Euronext is the only one available to me.

I'm not sure what this will allow me to trade.

Why do others have their accounts set up as professional? what does this require?

The reason I am posting on here so much is because it is so bloody frustrating calling IB every night and then they cannot even understand my questions.

But I thank you all for your patience with me as I learn this and the time you have all taken to respond. Very much appreciated :):xyxthumbs

Hello out there!

I can't quite figure out why I can't get the right quote for the SPY.

Last nights close was

SPDR S&P 500 (SPY)-NYSEArca 142.79 Down 1.30(0.90%)

However the quote I'm getting from TWS is

143.10 down 2.02

Is anyone else getting seeing this? I'm guessing I must have the wrong ticker symbol or something....

Has anyone had any success transferring funds out of IB to a CommSec Cash Management - Cash Account (CCA). I have many times successfully transferred the other way (in to IB from my CommSec CCA), but when I tried to transfer $1,400 out before Christmas, it failed. A day after I initiated the transfer the transaction history showed "sent", but a couple of days later, I received the message from IB "Cash Withdrawal Returned or Rejected" and the funds were credited back to my IB account. I had positive funds so there is no margin issue at the IB side.

A separate second transfer was initiated a day later before I received the first rejection and I expect that will probably fail too as everything else is the same. It currently has the status sent, but there is nothing yet showing at the CommSec side. That second transfer and any subsequent transfer attempts this month will be costing me $15 each, so I need to get it right.

These are the instructions I used (it was done as a Wire request with the currency set to AUD):

Instruction Name: To CommSec CCA (this is just the label I use for this particular instruction)
Instruction Type: Local Bank
Account Number at the Bank: ******** (This is my CommSec CCA a/c number)
Bank's Name: Commonwealth Bank of Australia
Bank's Location/City: Sydney
Bank's Location/State: New South Wales
Bank's Location/Country: Australia
Bank's ABA Number or SWIFT Code: CTBAAU2SXXXSWIFT
Bank's Code Specific to Country: 064783 (This is the BSB of my CommSec CCA)

I notice that there isn't any place for my account name at CommSec in the above instructions, but that should be superfluous (I think) as it has the BSB and account number.

If anyone is successfully transferring to CommSec, I would appreciate if they could post the instructions they use (non-personal parts). Also, if anyone has the correct codes to use to transfer to a Westpac Choice or similar Westpac A/C, that would be appreciated too, in case I can't get the transfer to CommSec to work. TIA

For commonwealth bank account , your details looks ok to me
I’m not sure for a commsec a/c.
I’m wondering if you entered CCA a/c 9 digits.

No, It stopped working for me too a month or so ago. I was surprised it ever worked to begin with considering the comsec site specifically states you can not do international transfers with their account. Being clever by using the CBA swift code doesn't work anymore.

FYI I have now switched to NAB and it was free to transfer from IB.

Thanks. Yes, I entered my 9 digit CommSec Account. I'll switch to Westpac as it looks like CommSec are problematic (thanks for the info Geeroy) and they are abandoning their Cash Management Account next month anyway. Does anyone have the Swift Code that works for Westpac. I'll call Westpac anyway, but I'm sure there will be confusion when I try to explain that it is a local, not international, transfer and there should be no reason for the swift code.

It's a pity that IB doesn't cater for Australia a bit better than at present. I love their platform and cost structure, particularly as I trade US and Oz shares, but the lack of CHESS for local shares and easy bank transfers for funding is a pain.

It is probably a side effect of the banks trying to tighten up on money laundering, (not suggesting you are laundering ill gotten gains etc) :)
