Interactive Brokers Troubleshooting

I seemed to have lost my IB SPI feed, although the equities are still ticking. Anyone else having the same issue?

No idea why I lost 10 minutes of prices for some reason...

But the usual probing spots aren't hurting :eek:utthedoor:

Hi all,
I posted this to another thread before I dscovered this thread, so please bear with me.

Is anyone else is experiencing weird MA, EMA lines that're all over the place and bear no relation to the actual price movements?
I've been plagued by this issue when looking at 2-year Weekly charts of Aust stocks. Weirdly, some stocks like TLS, WBC, CBA, ANZ (to name a few) are affected but others still look ok.

I've raised this matter with IB help desk but after telling me that they have no problems with the charts, there has been no further update - despite a recent request for progress update from me. I've checked with other brokers just to confirm and truly, the IB EMA lines have taken on a life of their own! I've sent screenshots of the disparity between IB charts and those from other sites.

Could the data be getting corrupted as it gets to me? IB said they've called up the same charts but their EMA lines look ok (altho' they didn't send me a screenshot of what theirs look like). What else could be wrong? I'm getting frustrated waiting for IB to respond so wondering if anyone out there has any ideas/theories? ( I hope Steve-IB sees this) I got nothing to lose at this point :(

cheers.

All okay over here.

IB TWS desktop has been playing up on me of late. It seems to freeze at irregular intervals - like it wouldn't log out properly, or I try to change the chart's axes and it freezes.

I did an update to the latest version yesterday but the problem persisted.

May be it's a Java issue? How do I check that I have the right/latest Java installed?

Thanks.

lots of problems lately windows 8 trying all browsers cant login under any a/c today - hangs on bar chart page
updated everything
cleared cache

I'm having problems on my mobile ap.

It says that it's loading chart but then says "chart times out"

The live price with bid and offer is coming up but no chart!!

Any ideas?

Having many problems lately with TWS - will not allow me to cancel an at market order placed when market closed
Option rollover only works in Classic version and then very flaky

Cannot roll options at all in webtrader using spread - custom/vertical or calendar

IE crashes when I open webtrader
Firefox disconnects often
Chrome works better

done all the usual update java cleared cache as before

anyone else having to buy back options instead of rolling also market makers often do not appear on the other side

:banghead:

It seems you now must subscribe to data to be able to roll options -

the latest webtrader has a few changes that are not in my interest - more information to come as I am still working on this

No issues at my end using iMac.

When no market makers appears on the other side suggest setting up your calendar or whatever strategy you're using, request quotes on all your legs, get the indicative spread price, bang you order onto the appropriate side at its widest point then gently work it to the midpoint, normally a counter-offer will appear and you should get taken out round the mid.

Thanks Cutz - webtrader does not allow RQ and I think TWS only allows if you pay the $25/m for market data correct?
Most days I have access to data anyway [In a brokers office] so don't need it.

I teach others online trading and Webtrader was much easier for them - I don't want to spend all the time upgrading them to TWS - many are older and don't want the hassle - I have seen them make mistakes often.

Just having problems connecting to live chat and message centre - this happens a lot lately and it says it will return momentarily - whatever that means - I have waited for hours!

Hey guys, has IB reduced their brokerage for option trading?? I thought i was $3.00 per contract but the picture below clearly shows $.030 per contract (minimum of $2.00). I normally trade with only 10 to 30 contracts at a time so am i really only looking at $3.00 to enter or exit a position??

Would love the clarification as this pricing is absolutely awesome if correct, thanks!Click image for larger version.

Yeah that's correct, IB dropped the commission per ASX stock option contract back when the ASX reduced the multipliers from 1000 to 100.

Thanks for the answer mate. I currently use ETRADE at $45 per trade, this is incredible, i will end up saving 95% for my average trade!

So i am guessing most day traders wouldn't touch etrade or commsec etc? Even Bell direct at $30 doesn't stand a chance.

Is there a catch or is it simply due to their international size and number of markets??
