Interactive Brokers Troubleshooting

Yeah damn TT, I cant believe 1 click dealing can be patented, pretty ridiculous, TT is a good platform though, just pm'd you

every morning IB upload all stock orders on the ASX. I dont know of any other broker here in Oz who does the same thing.
why can`t they leave those orders alone?!?

things went wrong in the past and yes it happened again: the majority of my orders are now sitting at the bottom of the queue, even the partially filled ones:mad:.

so no trades for me for a while and no brokerage fees for IB.

apart from this ongoing issue, I`m really happy with IB.

3. After 4pm, usually between 4pm and 4.30pm, the data for the ES (US futures eminis on globex) drops out a few times, this is happening every day around this time, is there a way to stop this. Also around this time I also get purple lines around every cell on every open interactive brokers window (book trader, the main workstation, etc) and I can not enter or exit trades, this is happening everyday and its making it very dangerous for me as I am often in a trade at this time and can not exit:eek:. Is there a reason this is happening, and how can I go about fixing this problem?

Just re read this.

You are connected to the wrong servers. For some reason every new account has a default connection to the US servers. But if you are trading Asia you should be connected as a primary exchange to Hong Kong. That way when they reset the US servers, currently at 4:00 pm Sydney, you are disconnected, including your stops!!!! Get in contact with them via a ticket in Acc management.

I'm looking for a way to set a large number of conditional orders each night after close on our stock market (say 200 or more, one on each stock), and for the first 5 filled, the rest get cancelled on that day.

Is there a way of setting a large number of conditional orders this way without having to do it manually using IB?

The reason I'd prefer to do it this way as opposed to having charting software automatically trigger the orders is that I know the orders are definitely in, and I can have my pc switched off or go to work or whatever.

Alternatively, does IB allow you to write algos into their TWS to trigger that way?

Any ideas appreciated. I'm not a client at the moment.

I've just upgraded to TWS 911 and lo and behold my SPI futures symbology is now invalid...

Can anyone advise what the correct format is?

Used to be APZ0-SNFE-FUT-AUD for DEC 2010

Thanks in advance

Two days reading all about IB and biggest trouble tmm is still no resolve on franking credidits au no shorting au and just got off the phone to sydney and couldnt understand the operator and they couldnt get the question ie quote - ask your accountant -fn hell - think i'll go mac prime for au and ooen a piddler for us/can. IB's one a/c for all looks great first up but if you can't do what you want don't go there.

I'll hazard a guess that you're after the Amibroker symbology? The format you have is correct but double check that you're running the latest IB data plugin for Amibroker.

C'mon IB addicts please. How's it going franking wise on asx listeds and anything in the wind re shorting au blues. Got a few bob to put onto market and really don't know whether to go all out IB or run seperate au and usa a/cs.

As much as I luv my IB,

I'd pass if you are looking for long term holds and anything to do with ASX divs etc.

Shorting looks like it isn't going to happen. use DMA CFDs from another provider.

thanks for response, was ideally after a one stop shop but IB looks good for aussie investor 80% in global equities and not so good for aussie 80% domestic trading.Still, shorting aside, has the issue re franking credits raised a couple of years ago been addressed one way or the other to date?

Hi guys, I just upgraded to 912.6, the latest TWS, but now I can't get any feed into AmiBroker.

It is connected, showing green in the taskbar, but when I try to backfill any data it just says "exception caught while reading socket".

I have not changed any settings after upgrading from 905.

Thanks for any advice.

Many thanks Captain you star

I probably should have mentioned Amibroker... been a long week already:eek:

Your deduction was on the money and the updated IB plugin was the key thankyou.

It’s a great gesture when somebody with experience takes the time out to assist a novice. Hopefully what the forum is about. Lovely jubbly.

As for Trembling Hand, I genuinely congratulate you on your demonstrable abilities trading the SPI. However your advice to type "SPI" into IB was something I had actually considered, despite my inexperience. This did not yield the requisite symbology for the SPI; although you can trade options from that input. Which I’m sure you do? By the way why is your hand trembling? It stinks of pent up emotions that you need to release one way *wink winK* or the other. Maybe you have Parkinson’s; who knows? I have Tourette’s if it’s any comfort. :)

I believe you need to upgrade to the latest AB/IB pluggin as Captain Black has just pointed out: http://www.amibroker.com/ib.html

I had the same problem earlier in the year - here is a link to those discussions: https://www.aussiestockforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=566886&highlight=amibroker#post566886

Yes it can be done.
I know this is how Nick Radge trades often.
