Yeh I just logged in to close a position everything was fine.
 
ok, thanks for that guys. Not sure what the problem is here, I've tried my Linux version of TWS, I've tried my NextG backup connection... oh well, might have to contact IB as it must be an account issue. Cheers
 
I've managed to get it up and running now, still not sure what the issue was, I'll send a ticket when I have a chance as I don't want a repeat of this morning too often. Thanks again for your quick replies guys.
 
I am wondering about the market value of account window. How does the different currencies affect our balance ? I see some negative values on the account.

Is there a reconciliation back to the base account currency at some point ?

CB, I had trouble logging in this morning around 9:50am and finally managed to get it in a bit after 10am. I'm normally logged in much earlier, but was running a bit late today. I see it was about the same time when you had trouble yesterday. Perhaps there is extra load around that time when the SPI opens and Oz equities are very close to opening as well.

There may be nothing in it, but will play safe and make sure I'm logged in earlier!
 
Thanks for that Sails. I don't think the time of day was the issue yesterday for me as I'd been trying to log in for quite awhile before I posted here. That's interesting that you had problems this morning. My issue was that after entering my username and password the security code box wasn't coming up. Did you have the same problem?
 
I could log into TWS but could not backfill data for some time. On the other hand I couldn't log into the website - but I could get into Account Management via TWS. Maybe it's just buggy at the moment rather than being an individual account problem.
 
Guys,
IB HK server was down this morning. I've put in a call to the US office but also discovered that you can speak to the trade desk to close your position. The cost is US$ 30 but should be able to get a refund if the asian server is down [So I'm told].

The other thing is that you can connect to the US or europe server via TWS when you click advance. This is something I've just found out after speaking to the TradeDesk in the states.

Yes, exactly the same as you describe - couldn't get past the username/password. It must be something random because I had no problems at all yesterday.

Thanks guys, it does sound like there's some bugs in the system somewhere.

That's what I meant.

I've also discovered the list of shortable asx stocks on IB. Very interesting. Now I can finally scalp the shorts rather than play with a cfd provider.

Would that be this link here where it says there are none available for the ASX? Back to your CFD provider?
