One thing you seem to be confused about is ig are cfd providers, they make a synthetic market. IB are stock/futures/fx brokers, they give you access to the real markets.

One question I have for you is don't ig have a restriction on the amount you are allowed to have in capital of $25,000 AUD :confused:

no they dont TH.
because i once have alot than 25k with both ig and cmc markets.
BTW they move me to manual dealing desk which make it impossible to scalpe.:mad:

i have over 80k in my IG account before. no problem there.

i have looked at the IB site before, and i still find the bundled and non bundled description misleading.

i am looking for the start to finsh cost of going long a a dec SPI at 4300 and selling it at 4310 (1 $25 contract).

any help most appreciated.

Yes, $10 includes all charges roundtrip.

On another subject, for those of you that subscribe to the OSE Nikkei data, do you find the feed only comes in a minute or two past 10am?

EDIT: Actually, checking past data, I find it normally starts at 10:01am or 10:03am, anyone know why?

Is the issues with IB fixed now?
I didn't read the whole thread for now, so forgive me if the answer was already given. I am quite interested by this broker, however [as a beginner] I don't have enough information on the main existing brokers. But this is not the subject of the topic anyway.
 
Anyone have trouble logging in to IB today??

Hi guys,

If I may ask a stop-related question...

Assuming the standard stop is intra-day, is there a way I can submit a stop order that only triggers off the closing price? I noticed there was a Limit-on-close type of order that might fit the bill, but thought I'd put the question out there.

Even if you could, the order wouldn't execute until the next trading day. Say you want to sell on open the next day if your end of day stop is hit. I'm not sure IB would place that order in the queue for the next day immediately or not so you'd need that clarified by IB. I sometimes use EOD stops, but if I do I don't place them in the market but execute them manually the next day.

You're spot-on. After a bit more thought, an EOD-only stop comes across as kind of defeating the purpose. Thanks for your suggestion though.

Im using IB. I dont seem to be able to call up RCY into my TWS. I can get every other ticker symbol in the world but not this one. Is anyone else able to confirm this prob and explain to me.

Open TWS, go to HELP, Message Centre and open a support ticket. Just ask them to list RCY.ASX for you and they will add it on. It will usually take 24-hours but if you do it tonight before they come in it could be ready tomorrow for you.

Just noticed that when a position is stopped out or Exited at a price (From a Bracket order) IB posts up "There are no XYZ available to short currently".

I just close the window and do nothing else as there are no orders pending.
Any clues? Or cause for concern do you think?
 
Hi Guys,

I have a query regarding funds transfer. On the instruction form I says to include IB account #, user name and account name, obviously there’s not enough space in the reference field in my banks online pay anyone facility so I did it at the branch.

I rang up IB and they said all info. is required and the bank told me that the online message field can't be altered.

I read here that it can be done online and I was just wondering how I can get around this issue.
