Hi all...

If you use trade CFDs, use IG Markets as your provider AND use their L2 Dealer platform, you may be aware that they have released an Auto Trader add-in for Excel.

It's a pretty simple module where you basically enter a formula in Excel with some arguments / parameters representing order type, TIF and obvious numbers like price and volume and the order will be sent to the platform.

You will need to program Excel yourself to come up with the trading strategy to come up with the order formula. You will also need a separate DDE feed if you want to need streaming data to calculate those order conditions.

So if anyone is using the above I'd love to hear your thought on how you plan to incorporate this into your trading.

At this stage, I am just trying to use the module as a quick order entry tool. E.g. Pre-set buttons in Excel where I can just fire off - sell 30% of holding at ask - with 1 click.

What is it with IG and aiming low? They could bring in so many customers by just enabling a few features.

When other brokers are offering NinjaTrader, JForex, hell...even MetaTrader 4 is a step up from Excel access, at least you can plug it into R.

Can't agree more. I guess the average retail punter doesn't need automation to lose money...
