Fire Season here in WA

Some friends busted some looters down here, just around the corner from us where Lamonts is. They got away unfortunately.

When I asked the friendly Snr Sgt who gets firewood from me at the farm, what should I do about intruders. Whatever you feel is a fair and appropriate thing. Just say nothing!!!!!

Just had a phone call for help from a couple I work for in Chidlow.
Dead end street 2nd last property on the road.
Had a fence flattened last night/this morning, but appears their dog frightened them off.
He is armed to the teeth and on the war path.

Latest bushfire South of Perth, out of control and on a large front.
Appears that at least one home has been lost.
Another suspicious fire in reasonably close proximity to the last one in that area.
This is certainly stretching the fire crews to their limits.
At least the water bombers aren't being stymied by bureaucratic bungling as was the case at Red Hill.

A rather warm day today hit 100 deg in the old money.
Had a fire just up the road from us that could have turned nasty as it is in a reasonable amount of bush.
There is another off Gt Eastern Hwy burning out of control in what is now State Forest.
From where I was working tonight it looked very spectacular.
Fortunately, there are only a few inhabitants in this area.
The fire season is now upon us.
Fire units are filled with water and fuel, and the Cat Loader also ready to roll if necessary.

Holy snapping @55holes @farmerge this one is huge. Started from a fatal care crash they say

@wayneL That;s for sure Wayne.
That coastal scrub is hard to control once a moving fire is in it.
I have a cousin who lives in Jurien and his place is on the highest point in the area.
Reckons the night vision is quite spectacular.

We had a rather rude awakening this morning, with several fire brigade units going past at 4.30am in an easterly direction.
Turned out that there was a fire about 15k up the road in country what could only be described as super dangerous as there was a pretty decent easterly wind blowing at the time.
Just to be on the safe side double checked that the necessary fire units and loader were ready to roll, if necessary, at a minute's notice.
Fortunately, calm has returned.

Had a fire down near us yesterday... Close to Nicolic estate. Didn't think it was any real danger to us even if uncomfortably close, but certainly got the adrenaline pumping.

@wayneL I missed that one Wayne. Perhaps fortunate it wasn't a stinker like today.

We had quite a nasty fire a few K's up the road from us recently.
Quite a large area was involved endangering lives, livestock and property.
I was talking a neighbour this afternoon and he said the police have since arrested a 38 year (oxygen thief) "man" for this arson attack.
Good work by them in a short space of time.
Probably thought he would get away with it by starting this fire at 4.30am.

Had a rather nasty surprise at our place around lunchtime yesterday. The capacitor on one of the electric pumps caught fire and started what could have been a disaster for as. As it was we lost about 1/2 an acre of paddock grass, approximately 150m for fencing and some fencing posts and fabricated wire.
Fortunately a sparky I have worked with for many years came out at a minutes notice and got the power back on at the tank, so only now have to get a new pump and fittings.
Should be fun if the temp cranks up quickly, as I am some moving with the heart issue at the moment.
Slow and steady, I am the tortoise for a little while yet.
The heart was certainly pumping and the blood pressure was up a bit for about an hour until the fire was out.

Lucky break @farmerge , do you have a ute mounted fire rig?
We have a slide on and 2 tailer ones, 2 1000 ltrs and the big tug along is 2000litrs.
The Cat loader was put through its paces in the paddock though and knocked the burning grass out quickly.
Unfortunately fencing and pump and associated piped are r/s.

Had a bit of good luck this morning as our benevolent insurer has agreed to pay to fill the 12000 gallon stock tank as it got drained due to the pipe damage.
Saves a lot of pumping household rainwater and from the bore.
