Seems to be a bit of fear setting into the general public over bank deposits, market, housing etc.
Maybe this is the realization that the financial turmoil will affect them more then they thought. Hope they all don't panic at the same time. We must be past the denial stage

All it will take is one News Paper Headline , before the general public start queuing at there banks...

note to my self withdraw money now, stockpile food, TOILET PAPER etc...

It needed to happen, we couldn't keep going with the high petrol prices, and the ever increasing interest rate. The cost of living was way too high, and now because of the crash, we might be able to get back to some sort of normality

Turnbull wants bigger Govt savings guarantee
Friday October 10, 2008, 1:02 pm

The Federal Opposition has called on the Government to give more guarantees to consumers' bank savings.

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd today said legislation will soon be introduced to Parliament which would guarantee the first $20,000 of an individual deposit.

But he has rejected suggestions that the Government follow other European countries and guarantee all bank deposits.

I see fear online, and Dad's business is VERY quiet, which is worrying him and me. But my 19 yr old brother just spent all his wages last wednesday, the same day he was paid. Obviously he isn't worried...what economic crisis?

Maybe your brother knew what was coming and decided to have one last splurge while he could....

true..

common ( mostly stupid) people need to be made aware this is a serious crisis and should not leave in denial and continue playing with fire.

ASX200 is worth less than $1 trillion dollar as of today. lost $600 billion since start of this year!

Qantas must be happy all this is going on gives them a break.
If your bank goes under will we be paid in USD?
Do the Fed's know some thing or just reassuring us all?
I am not worried about getting robbed I have insurance with AIG Own shares in Babcock, Centro prop. and when ABC learning ( did they) come good I will be on easy street , me worry never.

Hope they all don't panic at the same time.

of course they will its the heard mentality, we here on forum already see the signs therefore know the inevitable, were as the general public is oblivious.

i am just stating the obvious folks if there talking about it, then there's a possibility.

Rudd lifts savings shield

* October 12, 2008

THE savings of millions of Australians will be given greater protection in the event of a major banking collapse, after the Rudd Government yesterday called an emergency meeting to discuss the worsening financial crisis.

A key point of discussion was the dramatic increase from $20,000 in the amount of individual personal savings the Government is prepared to guarantee.

The move is aimed at reassuring a nervous public that their money is safe.

i guess people will always act in the last minute,

its like watching something coming to hit you in the face,
already your body has turned to run away,
but your head is still looking at whats coming.
