Decided to trial E*TRADE Pro today. Can't say that I'm too impressed, the Market Data page doesn’t load and it crashes every 2 hrs with this “session terminated” error.

You gotta hook up a wire to hang out your window then put a fan next to the computer...if that dont work call etrade...
 
today is the first day I've wanted to place an order in months and the website is unbelievably slow. Wait of 20 minutes on the phone also.
I'm surprised no one else is having a similar grizzle here???
 
I had numerous problems with ETrade months ago when i used to use it. Now i use MQ Prime and have not had one problem (touch wood). The only thing that came close to a problem was solved within 4 mins and i didn't have to wait over the phone.
 
Not sure if this is any help and I'm not with Etrade, but have had heaps of problems this morning with Telstra bigpond cable dropping in and out - in fact mosly out for the last three hours. Comes on for a few minutes, then drops out again. Perhaps Etrade servers use Telstra...

Have limited internet connection thanks to a USB internet stick with another provider...
 
Thanks Sails. Yes, I had slowness problems in accessing other sites also, but the E-trade was way in excess of that. They concede they have a problem!
Gee, thanks, E-trade. By the time the order went through (then via phone) the shares I bought were up 20c. Would be good if they wiped the brokerage as a gesture of apology. Has anyone ever had any luck in asking for this?
 
I think i got 5 free trades, or was it 10 once? For some major error in their site. I got sick of using them and can't believe they are still making mistakes. On one occassion i missed a sell point, costing me about $500.00, on numerous occassions it wouldn't let me place orders, costing me more money in missed opportunities. I just got sick of it.

And, to top it all off, i was very precise in my feedback on the surveys and in person over the phone.
 
ETrade Pro slow and unresponsive

Hi,

I have had a number of ongoing issues with Etrade Pro, which I must first admit works ok most of the time, but other times is slow and unresponsive. The time frame for this occurring is sometimes 10 min, sometimes an hour or until end of trading and usually when the market is changing fast. Customer says reinstall and reboot... but of course the issue is gone by then anyhow, and technical support is always 2 days late! Anyhow they always tell me it is a problem with my computer and connection ...

I would like to know if others experience the same, or if it works for them, so I decided to post this now, just after a particularly bad session. If anyone other Etrade Pro users could post how it worked for them on the last 30 minutes of market trading today 28th Oct. I only checked from about 3:20pm, but after about 10 min ETrade pro slowed so it would take many minutes to display data on a stock, depth, course of sales, and 'real time' plots. Then it just stopped trying to keep up!

After I restarted everything it was the same until after 4pm when it was still not showing any of the closing price auction changes. Then, sometime after 4pm, suddenly the time displayed on ETrade Pro went back by 15 min! The prices then kept updating but with the 15 min delay so I got to see it all repeated...

This is really frustrating as many of the times when the market is changing fast I most need to sell/buy stocks I seem unable to on Etrade Pro.

I have several other issues I may put in a separate post or reply if this generates any interest/response. Please post if ETrade Pro was giving you similar problems today, or also if it was working fine for you. I would like to see if it was my problem or what proportion of users was effected. Also if any other brokers experience the same issues.

Would still like to hear about any other issues people have experienced, similar to this. Currently they have said there are occasional issues with Pro, and refunding me fees, but I am not sure if it is worth holding on with them. It is so slow getting technical support

Some trades, particularly conditional orders not being executed has been costly, however they are making an effort to fix things and with compensation. I would like to see how much is fixed in the upgrade next month before I move.

Anyhow please post any other problems or solutions from thier technical support.

I have just joined etrade pro (a little over a month now).
Will not be continuing with it after this month.
SO slow especially when there is action going on a stock you are watching.
Stock I had and was watching had been trading for 20 min while etrade pro still had them in a trading halt????
Has some good features but all up I would say pretty crappy.
Anybody know any other good platforms?
 
Etrade down again "Due to unforeseen circumstances".
Hope they can sort it out before the open today.
 
#$%^&** wont answer the phone either tried using firefox just to get on ANZ and access etrade that way and cant get ANZ site.
Where is my ETRADE pro.
I left any order in last night my fault arrgghhh.
 
Their web side all the time very slow, this is no good for them.
Thinking transfer everything to another broker.
