Etrade problems

Re: Etrade problems linking with Telstra customers

Does anyone one else experience constant problems with Etrade?

I have been unable to access the website at all due to technical problems between Etrade and Telstra - I rang Etrade and was advised the issue has been on-going for 2 weeks and relates only to Telstra clients - maybe firewall? = they gave me an incident no 1398 which was the reference number from Telstra - but naturally after talking to robots and multiple Telstra humans in Phillipines and OZ, I was told Telstra does not use 4 digit reference numbers.
I rechecked with Etrade and confirmed the 1398 no was the one they were given. Chances of fixing problem in next couple of weeks will be minimal although I was told NSW was clients have been fixed ( how?).

Anyone else in same boat?

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago but the problem was not confined to Etrade.
Just constant lack of access and drop outs.
Like you, I was told the problem was all due to Telstra's upgrading some hardware and there was nothing to be done but wait it out. After a week, during which time none of my neighbours was experiencing any problem, I went back to the ISP and insisted on speaking with a supervisor.

Turned out the problem was with my unstable modem. Absolutely nothing to do with TLS at all.

If you're not having a problem with any site other than Etrade, I'd be pushing Etrade to actually do something.

Good luck.

PS I'm not having any problem with Etrade.

One year has passed since last reported problem. Is everyone using another broker?

I haven't been able to connect to the ETrade webpage all day.
I don't believe it is just my computer with problems.

peter2, No I`ve been having problems for a few hours. It`s definitely Etrade, as I got a pop up from them apologising and the old `we hope to get it fixed as soon as possible.`

A real pain.

Thanks Buck, it seemed strange that no-one else has mentioned it on this forum. Another forum is quite hot under the collar about it.

I only have one stock still on this platform and just ignored it then, but it's down again today
:mad::swear:

... don't know why I just didn't transfer it to the other platform. :banghead:

Whiskers, sure it`s not your computer. I`m having no problems with E*TRADE today.

I have Go Markets up atm and working fine as well as a number of other pages.

The message is "IE cannot display the web page".

Maybe we're on different servers?

... or maybe it's a damn telstra bigpond issue?

PS: I just googled etrade and clicked on the link and nothing connected.

I dunno, still working here and I`m with Bigpond too. Just did a google search as well and got thru to E*TRADE site. Gremlins afoot methinks.

Clear cache.

OK good thing to do but that is not the big problem. Its E*Trade - maybe hacked or capacity overload; but they say nothing. Looks like starting to work again locally but if you are overseas - nothing! (info from another thread in another place).

It could be that they are cleaning-up slowly and carefully. However a message to their customers might be a good PR move rather a useless Christmas card and hoping we do business in 2012.

There is also a phone no. where you can phone in trades : +61 (0)3 8541 0358 - this looks like the ANZ link and I think they put you through to E*Trade; so it might not matter if your E*Trade account is linked to your HSBC account.
Hope this helps.

Agree totally!

I'm running fine again today.

I started trying to access Etrade australia since christmas and it still isn't working - i believe it doesn't work if you are outside Australia (the UK) - this is an ABSOLUTE joke. I can't access my account my money etc. ANZ bank and ETRADE are a joke. WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO RESOLVE THIS?

Me too. Still unable to access Etrade website. Its driving me nuts.
I'm outide Australia at the moment. Can someone confirm that the site is currently accessible from within Australia?

Bintang, it`s working fine here, central coast New South Wales.

Thanks Buckfont.

I phoned Etrade (+61 (0)3 8541 0358) a short while ago and thankfully was able to speak with an actual human being without much delay. I learned the following:
• Etrade website is indeed having a problem affecting anyone seeking access from outside Australia
• If using a PC with a static IP address they can do something about it. If using a PC with a dynamic address (which is probably the case for most users) they cannot help.
• Etrade does not know when the problem will be fixed !!!

I asked why Etrade has not sent an advisory email to customers about this problem and they said they would “take the suggestion on board”.

Great, absolutely bloody fantabulous #$%!!
