Etrade problems

I got the security message that BIG BWACULL had, yesterday for awhile, but my account balance has been fine so far.

I tell ya what though, if they ever do stuff up a trade on me, I'll join those sueing them. But they probably have a disclaimer burried somewhere in the fine print to protect themselves.
 

If you can't join those suing, join those leaving them.

I thought Commsec was bad, but now think Commsec aren't so bad after all (ATM)
 
im just thankfull broker's haven't outsourced there call centers to India, not yet anyway. had a few glitch's with E Trade nothing major really, some times my portfolio is someone else's.
 
Is anyone else having this problem with E-trade? viz the total market value of stocks which is correct on the 'Portfolio' page, is not correctly shown in 'Account Balances'.

I had the same problem consistently while I was using e*trade, up until May/June this year. I eventually decided that although the 'bells & whistles' on the site are nice, if the basics like Account Balance aren't accurate then they are not the type of broker I want to use.

I moved to a broker that is 45% cheaper per trade and has the fundamentals correct. It doesn't have 'broker consensus' and as many financial details but I much prefer it.
 
That's been an issue for ages and they still haven't fixed it! I gave up on these muppets a little while back and moved my business elsewhere.
 
It was the little things at first that got me, slow site, could not find valid codes when doing research, then I could not login one time, so I left.

I have moved my trading elsewhere, I now only have my long term positions with them until I close them out too. Not long now and i'am all gone.
 
E-trade problems

Anybody else having problems with E-trade? I cannot buy/sell any stocks currently, it does not appear to be updating nor is there any market depth.

I just get an error saying

Unable to retrieve the requested quote
The product ... is not a valid Equity

My portfolio page is giving me false quotes that are not upto date, Its trying to say LYC is still at 1.105 when it clearly is up to $1.155
I have just signed up with BELL DIRECT and the account will be active Soon
Hope all will be better, I guess it cant get any worse, $15 Brokerage heh heh

Yeah back to normal again. I was ****ting myself for a while then. Just opened etrade account last month. So this is the first time it happened to me could not work out what was going on.
 
Just signed up to Bell Direct...just testing them out. Seems ok so far but just waiting on more features to be brought online e.g. conditional orders. Call centre guys say that this will come soon. At $15 a trade I can live with this for a while...
 
Just got off the phone to eTrade Australia. Sick to death of my portfolio being inaccurate. Had the same issue since middle of last year.

When I spoke to a manager today I was told, and I quote: "We have had bigger fish to fry such as web site reliability and the particular issue you mention hasn't been a high priority"

I responded by asking "don't you think it's important to have an accurate portfolio?" and was given the same reply that "it is a known issue and the IT department is aware of it"

When I asked for an ETA for a problem that has been occurring since the middle of last year (when the new site went up) she simply said she was unable to give an ETA.

My question is: Is there a better broker than eTrade or are they simply the best of a bad bunch?

I had that same issue! How insecure is that!!!!!! It gives the persons account ID. It wouldn't take a heap of work to guess the password. Really sloppy.

does anyone have the problem with their account balances today ?
i rang several times, they said the problem is with the asx settlement.
my money just disappeared and have to wait them to fix the problem.
it is really annoying.

I had this happen to me a few months ago! About 20k just disappeared, then it came back in little peices over about a month timeframe, making it near impossible (along with all my other trades) to determine if they cheated me or not! They got an earful, but still, far too many problems with most trading platforms, just amaizing!

Oh, and somehow they also took one share of JST out of my portfolio, WTF. Only worth $3.50 so I didnt bother even ringing!
 

yell at them 3 times.
got it fix now.
they unable to settle my sell order.
got free trade as well.
it pissed me off !
 
I logged in ok with firefox but my portfolio is showing incorrect info in the "last price" column
 
no problems logging in, but my portfolio value hasnt changed in an hour and doesn't match market depth. - using IE and Firefox
