Yet not exactly h1b visas still.
And in Australia, i do not believe these backpackers are even counted in the 600,000 or so new migrants a year we are getting.
Could be wrong but as they mostly leave after 2y or so, not counted
Some of them use it as a pathway to enter Australia, but I do recall them saying that part of the work visa was to do so many years in the countryside doing crap jobs and then they were allowed to take on some city jobs.
 
I don't believe in everything he does, but this is the sort of outside the box thinking that makes me admire Musk.
While the LA fire department holds press conferences, Gavin Newsome starts enquiries, Musk goes out and uses his own companies money to solve a problem.
Highly unlikely Newsome and his entourage will thank Musk for his work.
