December 2023 Stock Competition Entries!

I am also throwing in the towel. Going backwards.

I thought I had some inkling of talent for researching stocks, but clearly my foray into microcaps has demonstrated otherwise. I don’t know how it comes so easily to everyone else here.

This is mostly throwing darts. My strategy has always been to pick something that might have a floor and might be coming out with some good news in the month. Otherwise, I have subcontracted my picks to GG and the RIH, who have never failed me. Success in picking stocks is actually knowing when to sell, but can't really incorporate that into these comps.

@divs4ever new blood is needed in the cellar. Don't discourage Verce.
but i am trying to inhabit the cellar .. after all i normally tip stocks i am willing to buy ( cheap )

now sure i probably should have tipped QBE in December because i was hoping to reduce , but normally when i pick a stock it goes in the opposite direction ( in the short term )

Good morning @divs4ever

For someone that wants to inhabit the cellar mate, you do a terrible job ;) :roflmao:.
This year 2023 your biggest loss on a selection was 9%, last year 2022 was only 8%, the year before that 2021 was 9%. :xyxthumbs
You'll never be in the cellar with those stats, please try harder.

do you remember my only winner ( so far ) that was an unimpressive gain as well ( not even close to 50% gain )

i have only to be better/worse than the other entrants

the market will come to me if persistent enough ( like MTO this month )

besides PTM could be a real whirlwind ( with a new high-flying CEO with a track record in 'Green investing ' ) from darling to disaster in how many months ?

The end of the December Tipping Competition Update. The XSO went up 6.99%, a great month. The ASF Team Average went up only 1.70%.

1st - Sorry about this but it gives me great pleasure to announce that @debtfree TTT 104.76% has won this month's Comp.
At long last he's finally got a win, all podium positions had to hold on from a long way out this month so well done.

2nd - @Ferret LNK 59.12% was waiting for a better takeover offer that just didn't happen, thank god.

3rd - @Garpal Gumnut CVN 43.75% had a few scares towards the finish but he threw a bit of cash at it to lift it out of @greggles OZM 36.36% reach.

@Faramir SHN 61.11% scooped up his second wooden spoon for the year, so well done mate. Now back to picking winners next year ;) .

A big thank you to all Tipster that have entered this year and all your posts here and also to the ASX Stock threads :xyxthumbs. That's what keeps us going.

Also Thank you to @Joe Blow for having these Comps for us again this year and supplying the Prize Money is icing on the cake. It give us a chance to try out different things and have a little fun at the same time.

Don't forget to put in your entries for January Monthly Tipping Comp and enjoy your weekend Folks :).

As @Sean K mentioned Verce .... no one has crystal balls on micro caps ... so you are certainly not alone!

Anyone who dabbles in them will understand the occasional (sometimes often!) frustration and financial pain in doing so :nailbiting: :banghead:

Personally, I like them, but I've had my butt branded many times :inpain: lol.

congratulations @debtfree , all those years of analyzing our tips has finally paid off for you

good work @Ferret and @Garpal Gumnut gets a bit tough when the winner scores over 100%

sorry @Faramir that 61% was just too hard to catch this month maybe i will get closed next month

and thanks to Joe Blow and the sponsors and @debtfree for all the effort involved keeping the comp. running

How can SHN Sunshine Metals lose 61% 🤣🤣 You were supposed to be the sunshine of my life (or at least the tipping comp) . The only sunshine I received was unlimited access to the cellar room.
It is with great sadness that this being the end of the year and @Faramir has scooped the pool well actually a very slow boat still coming up to the finish line.
So Sir your prize, dusting duties in the cellar, a Certificate of Complete Worthliness of Do Much better Next time, and of course that much coveted prize The Wooden Spoon.
Having said all of that there is of course the bonus of the gut rot red that is made available to the inhabitant of this lousy position.
Noe looking forward to January 2024 Competition.
