The 6th round of Sheffield shield has finished before we move onto the contrived T20 spectacle.
Kawaja got a century, Cameron Green got a well crafted 96, Lambshanks got a duck and 22, and Alex craey got a second innings 81.
Of those looking to take Warners spot, Bancroft managed 7, Joe Burns got a second innings 62NO, Marcus Harris and hentry hunt both had double failures. Pucovski got a good second innings 65.
Bowlers were in the ascendancy on some tricky wickets, with Vic Quck Fergus O'Nel continuing his good form for the season with 10 wickets for the match as did young Tassy seamer lawrence Neil-Smith.
Nathan Lyon did not get to bowl much on seamer friendly wickets, but his rehab continues.
Chris Tremain picked up 9 for the match, Wes Agar got 7 for the match.
Of the also rans not in contention, Sam harper picked a rollicking 150 to rescue the Vics from dire straits, Jake Fraser-Mcgurk also produced a composed century.
Oliver Davies picked up a fine 81 No when all around him were floundering.
Given the sporting nature of a number of underprepared wickets, any score over 50 required a mix of application and luck and was worth a century on any other day.

I don't think Pucovski is likely to be considered in the near future because of his concussion problems, a pity as he seems pretty classy.

Warner's replacement is likely to be Bancroft unless he is completely out of form.

I read an article in mid year that he had seemed to overcome the concussion problems while playing in the UK.
Mind you, the ball does not get up quite as quickly as it does on our bouncier wickets.
We will have to wait and see.
If he is to be considered, I can see him more as a no 3 or no 4, maybe to take over Smiths role in the future.

Matt Renshaw may have moved to the top of the "Who Will Replace Warner" list.
The two openers, harris and Bancroft mad god starts for 49 and 53 respectively, but Bancroft has gone to the next level with 99 No at tea.
Like the two openers, Camerion Green got a good start and moved on to 46 , did not go on to post a big score.
Green is getting there, but he needs to convert more of these starts to centuries, especially as injuries have curtailed his bowling to being a bit of a part timer, or at best first change.

Warner going great guns at the Perth cricket ground.
He passed Viv Richards on the list of greatest run scorers, and did it in 11 fewer tests.
Always been underatted in my humble opinion.

Hope they give a better show at the boxing day test. Can't wait as I will be there with one of my brothers and our kids.

Was always going to be difficult for Pakistan on that wicket still giving assistance, and starting to show variability of bounce.
Plus they were up against a pretty reasonable attack on their home patch.
Having two debutant fast bowlers in their lineup, both of whom bowled well most of the time.
Unfortunately for Pakistan , Shaheen Afridi did not live up to the hype.
Was menacing at times, but a lack of consistency is his achilles heel.
Marsh shone, warner pissed off a few of the Warner haters by being the most fluent batsman in either team in the first dig, and Smith once agin showed petulance against a close but ultimately correct call.
Test cricket.
So much better than the pyjama game.

I wrote a while back that I thought the other nations were catching up with the Oz womens team, and they seemed to be losing their invincible handle.
Its always tough to win in India as their male compatriots have found out over the years.
However, Australia have been largely outplayed by India in the one off womens test, and if they manage a draw and escape defeat, it will only be because the test only go for 4 days. Another day and OZ would be toast.
They might still lose if bowled out cheaply on day 4.
They are effectively 5/46 , but bat deep.
Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur who can be a bit testy at times, got into another spat with Alyssa Healy wen she fielded the ball off her own bowling, and then fired the ball back at Healy who stuck her bat up to protect herself.
The ball deflected to the boundary for 4.
Kaur was a touch upset that the Umpires refused to give Healy out obstructing the field, despite the fact that the ball was going to hit Healy in the upper part of her body, and she had already got back in her crease.
Kaur had the last laugh though as she dismissed Healy next ball.

Second test a little closer thyan the first so far.
On an unusually for Melbourne responsive pitch, the Pakistan bowlers bowled pretty well in patches, but like in the first test there were too many periods when they lacked concentration.
Their fielding was excellent today, and their catching well above the previous efforts.
They did very well to restrict Oz to 318, and like OZ, had a lot of luck against some outstanding bowling by the Oz bowlers.
The difference was that Oz bowlers kept it up over after over till eventually the number came up.
Lyon bowled beautifully, as did Starc and Hazelwood.
But once again it was captain Cummins who broke the back of the Pakistan innings.
If they can knock over those remaining 54 wickets for under 50, they will have a handy lead going in to bat a second time.

Should have added that Pakistan were not aided by the ridiculous number of extras in the OZ innings.
52 sundries ended up being the second highest scorer in the OZ total.
So many wides and Byes from balls that were way to short and went over the keepers head, were free runs that may cme bak to haunt the Pakistanis in the end.

Was at the cricket the past 2 days. Mostly at the bar catching up with mates. Looks to be more entertaining today with Australia crumbling to a third rate outfit. Might have to drop in later to see them all out for under 50.
