ComSec reminder

Comsuck does this every time we have a correction/crash whatever.
However from what i've heard other online brokers sites crash more often than comsuck does.
Comsucks ok, nothing is 100%, especially something humans have created :cautious:

Re: ComSec

i am thinking -- if comsec has a majority share of retail investors and no one has access to trading that may stop the market from any further downfall maybe? cause panic sellers have no access - market recovers then stop panicking maybe?

Hopefully.... commsec ord stuck on 5442 (commsec has crashed) should be 5394

Thats one way to slow selling. I'm blind.

Did manage to get through to portfolio.

Wish I didn't.... IT said I had lost the lot!!!!

Heart palpitations, cold sweats, shaking. Thanks ComSuc.

Mate, it's probably an error. Tell me what stocks you hold & price you bought and I'll tell you your accurate position :)

Not that I know of - Trader Dealer's WebIress platform is working fine for me today (at least so far!). I voted with my feet and ditched Commsec a long time ago. Still have an idle account with Etrade, but they would have to seriously improve their customer service before considering trading with them again.

Still showing lost the lot.(10.20 Qld time)

Thanks Nyden, but I have 16 stocks, & haven't peace of mind enough to write them down

I did exactly the same sails, best move I ever made, TraderDealer just keeps working regardless.

I am amazed that anyone still uses Comsec.

Mike

One good thing about the new Commsec is the "total" units for sale and buy.

Good feature but not good news. Haven't had this information before. I have had only the top 10 like most. Will more be spooked by these totals?

Commsec's individual stock quotes have been frozen since 3:19pm. I had to check at the ASX site to learn the closing price of my stocks.

Not good, but at least we can log in now.

my comsec has not worked for the majority of todays trading, can any here tell me if they have filed a complaint to comsec regarding their service.

:banghead:

yes sent off email at 10:30 am to date have not heard back from them - couldnt get through on phones at that time

Given how much Commsuc charge for brokerage I’d be hopping raving furious about this. This is may well be the result of an IT cutback to save the bank some money. Commsec knows exactly how many subscribers it has and should easily be able to plan for high loads.

Can you start a class action against them?

I’m not with Commsuc but I feel for you guys I really do.

The volumes were huge during the worst panic days this week, and Commsec has to go through the SEATS system, competing with all the other brokers for access. And with conditional orders more freely available online, the whole thing is very complex these days. I wasn't all that surprised to see some site downtime. That doesn't mean that more bandwidth wouldn't help of course.

I like the site's new indicative price feature (about time), but find the new Watchlists are loading VERY slowly compared to before. Also, previously you could go from a Watchlist to Depth or to an Announcement, and then Back directly to the the same Watchlist. But now the site sends you back to your first Watchlist all the time, adding another (slow) step to get to the Watchlist where you started.

I don't see it as fair that retail investors are squeezed out of the market by their accounts being off line. I'm sure the institutional investors didn't have any problems putting their trades in on open.

Sounds a little like a conspiracy theory... keep the retail investors out who want to buy back in on the bounce. Instos will buy up on open then sell to the retail investors when their accounts are online... Surely this would not happen??

Retail investors need to have equal acces to the markets (not only in terms of info, but actual access to execute trades in real time).
