Hi All

Problem 1:

I am trying to complete the IB Application form but it is asking me for a Social Security number even though I am not a US citizen!

It says:

If you are a U.S. citizen, a U.S. resident or have a U.S. Social Security Number:

Anyone else have this problem and now what the work-around is ?

Question 1:

Do i have to send verified copy of my passport and drivers licence or can I send these documents photocopied as is ?

thanks!

Leave SS No blank. They use the US form for Aust applications so much doesn't apply.

IIRC I sent the entire range of identification documents as scanned PDFs so certified copies not required, just photocopies.

Cheers

Hi

The problem is I cannot leave the SSN number blank as it will not allow be to proceed to the next page without filling out this number.

Cheers

I am still wondering why the likes of IB etc do not open Aussie bank accounts.

Their process seems to be time consuming and unnecessarily difficult.

With work I deal with a company called Jeppesen who are located in Denver, Colorado.

I have a statement from them in front of me now with the different payment options similar to what IB has, and in addition their Westpac Account details, BSB etc.

You would think that if IB were serious that they would simplify the process, it cannot be that difficult.

IB use an Australian bank branch of Citigroup, with BSB and account number similar to what you would have if it was a WP or CBA account. What's difficult about that?

Maybe I am missing something here, if I am I would appreciate the link or reference, all I see is US, UK and Canada

Why all the seppo forms etc then ?
Sorry, I have no idea what a "seppo" form is, or how that relates to my response on bank accounts. Once the account is set up you can simply transfer the money from your Australian bank account to the Citigroup account, and notify IB under the wire transfer option.
