I have no trouble viewing charts at night.

Sometimes i might have to try a couple of times, but it does work.
 
CommSec ProTrader2 - Charting work around

Further to my charting adventures with Comsec Protrader 2....

I have discovered that i cannot "add" a new intraday chart...during the day.

Here is how it works. I have PT2 running, with a number of companies charts already loaded... I start PT2 just before 10am. I then have to go to the charts for each of the companies, and just after they open I have to click the green arrow (start) for the chart. Then it will keep updating fore the rest of the day, with intra day information.

HOWEVER - if I wanted to add another company for another intraday chart - I can't. There is a work around. Add the company...before 10am, click cancel to stop it trying to load, click the green arrow...and "start" the chart with nothing. Then the big trick is to exit PT2 completely.

Load it up again...and you have you new company....on a new intraday chart...all working fine.

Overall this is a shocking work around for supposedly professional software....but...it works.
 
Yeah, it's a buggy piece of crap. When it works its useful, but otherwise! I find with the intraday charts, if you close the chart, and then open another window (right click on a window, click "chart") it will sometimes start working again. It's all very random however. Some stocks work, some don't.. erk!! Apparently they are soon shifting back to WebIress so it should fix many problems.

Has anybody successfully installed ProTrader under a virtual machine under Linux or the like? I have tried both VMware and Virtual Box. Any other application works flawlessly under these vm's.. and network access is also fine for anything else, but after installation, Protrader comes up with "Cannot access network connection", at startup and doesn't work.

It must access the network layer at some lower level than other apps, as it should work
 
Is it just me or is protrader not available on weekends.
It seems everytime I try and connect (put my ID in and password) i get a message saying "Application failed to initialise - error connecting to remote server"

Seems fine on weekdays.

Anyway got any solutions?
 
No one could help me with the above?
I downloaded PT1 and have no problems accessing it on the weekend but PT2 doesnt connect!

I have the exact opposite problem; on the weekends ProTrader1 doesn't work for me
 

I had this exact problem when I installed PT2 on my new laptop (was already previously using it on desktop). I thought it didn't like my wireless or something - so I called them up and their answer was: "It just dosen't work on laptops".

I said:"But how can it even tell the differnce between a desktop and laptop"
"I have no idea... it just dosen't work on laptops. - But here I'll send you PT1"

So I installed PT1 which worked fine, but I thought I'd experiement with P2T to find out a little more. I installed it and it worked fine.

So try this:
Completely uninstall PT2
Install PT1, log in and play around
Install PT2 again ontop.

This worked for me. Having said that, I'm nothing but pissed off with protrader, I'm contemplating a refund. I paid $82.50, and I cannot get charts to work at times - or display the information how I want to (or in a meaningful manner), the information is incorrect. Sometimes it just freezes up, and sometimes lags (on powerful, unmolestered, new computer).

I'm contremplating asking for a refund. Does anyone have any suggestions on a better platform/broker?
 
no offence intended but ,,,,,,,,, pay peanuts get monkeys , been wth etrade for 4 years now after becoming frustrated with commsecs unreliability and costly mistakes. funny thing is i dont see any threads asking for tips on power etrade meltdowns...........mmmmmmmmmmm funny that
 
no offence taken. It's not like I shopped around or did any research. There are a few threads on here with un-happy etrade users.

Having said that I just opened my E-trade account...
 
lol , i actually was forced into being a commsec user when TD waterhouse closed its doors , and yeah realise im being a bit one eyed re etrade ..... but from personal experience i havent had a problem and happy with there service
 
CommSec ProTrader2 - ComsecIress coming soon...

I spoke to comsec today - they say that ComsecIress is coming the first week of October 2008.

All current Protrader 2 people should get an email.

Has anyone heard anything else? Any information on ComsecIress? Will it just be WebIress via comsec (and hopefully ten times more stable than Protrader)
 
You're all being fleeced IMO.

Wake up, banks dont lose in these software glitch's, YOU DO.
I'd really start up about comsec, but thats another thread, and forum suicide if any comsec cash is funding this site.

Be aware of what days this happens, then check corresponding bull days and you'll be surprised at the correlation.
Its another form of arbitrage activity heading up the main course on the comsec menu.
A very expensive feed indeed.
Be aware.

YT, I was forced to update last week and PT1 is now screwed. I keep emailing the crash log and screenshot. Hopeless. If I'm happy with IB for forex think I'll also trade ASX through them as well.

I wonder if we're being 'influenced' onto webiress so they don't have to keep supporting PT1 and eventually PT2.
