I wonder if we're being 'influenced' onto webiress so they don't have to keep supporting PT1 and eventually PT2.

Certainly seems that way - I have just "subscribed" to comsec webiress. They give you an extra month "free" if you tick the "unsubscribe from Pro Trader 2" option.

Well, I am trying it out now. I am sick and tired of comsec Pro Trader 2 and all its bugs etc. I will see how I go with webiress.

CommSec ProTrader2 - Goodbye

I have just been able to get Comsec Webiress up and running. A couple of minor teething problems with memory, java update etc. Its saying I have an incorrect password...but looks like I just have to ring comsec.

Its working. Its in sync (the depth and the values on the charts). I can open new intraday charts...and its hardly using any data on my portable 3G broadband.

Good bye Comsec Pro Trader 2 - it is over. Never again.

Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I really like ProTrader 2 and so far intensely dislike the WebIRESS offering.

I have a lot of difficulty getting a feel for market depth with WebIRESS. With ProTrader 2 it's far simpler to see where new bids/asks are showing up.

Yes, you can. But you pay $ for it. And in the FAQ from comsec, they talk about this. You use Webiress, but your trades do not count for free Comsec Pro Trader...so you have to pay a subscription (potentially) for both webiress and pro trader.

Its kind if a rather big incentive to get off Pro Trader. Also, Webiress doesnt require as many trades in a month to make it free...

I think comsec are really trying to give out a big hint....

Thanks bv2726. I had a look at the FAQs, seems that Comsec is really going to phase out Pro Trader this time.

I know the Pro Trader platform is not great, but for free real-time data (the criteria are so low that it's almost free) I'm certainly satisfied with it.

I trade mainly with IB now, so I doubt I'll be able to qualify for free ComsecIress.

what are the brokerage cost for trading options on iress? is it the same as protrader?

I received a letter from comsec last week.

Although i have been using Webiress which works well, i still use protrader on a second account, i must admit, i quite like the charting on protrader, occasionlly i punch an options trade through to keep it active.

This is what I don't understand. If Pro Trader is going to be phased out after Nov 30, why does Comsec need to offer free ComsecIress in December for unsubscribing from Pro Trader before Nov 30? Weird huh?

Yeah I've been doing the same with the option trade. One trade per quarter is great deal

Yeah, I dunno must be some sort of gimmick.

Now that they have got a decent platform in Webiress I just wish they got serious and dropped their option assignment brokerage to be at least on par with standard discount brokerage. Might entice me to stick with them.

Well, pro trader may or may not have been phased out (I removed it from my computer) but I have just been charged for December ($82.50) for pro trader.

I rang commsec this morning - they said you have to email commseciress directly and complain. I told them how I ticked the box to unsubscribe from pro trader and you get a free subscription to iress till the end of december.

I just emailed them. Anyone else been charged for pro trader still?

Received a call from Commsuck today to say that ProTrader 1 and 2 will be turned off at the end of December.

Although I quite like the way ProTrader 2 shows it's market depth and course of sales and also the way the live charts are displayed I am sure I won't miss all of the bugs in the program! (freezing charts and sometimes market depth can be more than 1 minute out of sync!)

And after looking at the new ComsecIress platform it looks like it is just the same as PowerEtrade and I'm not sure if I really want to go down that road again.

Might have to have a closer look at IB and see what all the fuss is about.

Anyone else have any recommendations on any trading platforms? (reliability paramount!).
