Cliches you love to hate!

to all intents and purposes

There seems to be another version of this one around too - "for all intensive purposes". I've heard it a few times lately.

I still haven't manged to think of what these intensive purposes might be although it's reassuring to know that some people are, they claim, suitable for all of them.

Just listening to a footballer being interviewed

"The ball is our court and we'll have to put our best foot forward"

"We'll have to let it all hang out and have a real crack"

"If we make the finals, all well and good"

"We're really rapt for our members"

"Cheers"

Go Crows!

After receiving applause or - another cliche expression: "a standing O" - the contestant is asked how he/she feels.

"amazing!"
"incredible!"

I find it especially incredible how someone can feel incredible. But maybe that's just me

Hmm, probably one of these: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0317705/

Sorry, couldn't resist the temptation. No wait, I mean, oh never mind...lol. :)

It's a bit new to be a cliche, but it soon will be I think

Heard at Alan Joyce's press conference

"Optionality"

I quite like cliches. They communicate complex ideas in a few words.

But I'll submit one for AFL lovers, in context: "..I like the 'Way he Goes About It'"

Latterly dying a death, thanks be to Ablett.

Two I think we will be hearing a lot in a few weeks at the RC.

"I've done nothing wrong"
"I can't recall"
