China and The West: Political Systems Compared and Contrasted

At least you can be relatively confident, that the information coming out of those Countries, has some basis in fact.
Yes, Fox News is excellent.
Or the New York Times.
Murdoch's empire is just the epitome of factual news!
How about our Epoch Times, quoted earlier by @pozindustrial?
Or whatever media you keep complaining about.

I think you are a bit of a 'voice in the wilderness Rob', I think most in Australia are fairly happy with their lot, those that aren't are free to go and live where they prefer.
They also have a choice of media preferences, they have access to anything they wish to read.

That's not really the point.
You and others are posting stuff that is plain wrong!

When I am in China I use what other Chinese use to access the world media - a proxy server!

The USA has borne the brunt of the defence of the free world hence the large military spending.

If you want to be a subject of Russia or China, feel free to live there and see how you go.
Right, and none of their wars have had anything to do with maintaining supply of oil, “defending the free world” it’s funny that a lot of the people they are killing would also describe themselves as freedom fighters, the fact is no body ever thinks they are the bad guy.

The USA also has possibly the highest rates of police shooting their own citizens, and the highest rates of imprisonment too, how is it that the leader of the free world has more of its citizens jailed than any other nation, and its citizens are terrified of the police.

With all the guns on the streets in the USA , if I was a policeman going to work I would be seriously wondering if I would make it home that night.

No doubt there are renegades in the US police force, the country has a lot of problems to be sure. Are you actually promoting it should be a totalitarian state like China ? The police can do anything they want there and they never get brought to a court and if they do they get let off for doing their job of silencing dissent.

Which system do you really think is better ?

USA is full of guns in the hands of crims, a nightmare for law enforcement. I have seen on youtube a LEO delay shooting a defiant black guy in a car who seized a gun and took off running. He turned and shot the officer who had ample opportunity to fire the first shot. A lot of officers get killed or maimed but aren't national news stories. The llberal citizens who rely on them for their safe lives mourn the deaths of life long criminals like that icon of police savagery towards oppressed blacks, George Floyd, who almost certainly died of a lethal cocktail of fentanyl and meth, 75% blocked vital arteries and the stress of being arrested. Poor slightly built cop who's job was to subdue and detain a powerfully built agitated drug addict crim was thrown under the bus.

Explain what I wrote in this thread, that is wrong.
I said people have choice of media here, whereas in China they don't, as you confirmed by stating you use a proxy server.

Also I'm very sure if you wrote the disparaging comments in China about their leader, that you do about Australia's leader, you would probably be locked up.
Maybe if China is so wonderful and great, you should relocate and enjoy the open rewarding lifestyle China can provide you. I assume as you worked as a policy writer for the Labor party in Canberra, you will be on a Commonwealth pension scheme, which would give you a terrific standard of living in the 'chosen' land. ?

You cannot go and live wherever you like! I could not even go to to live in America!
You have upvoted posts which have no basis in fact.

Your assumptions about me are plain wrong!
Stop making this personal and get on-topic.

I think it’s a lot more than just a few renegades, I think they have institutional problems built in.

I am not saying America should be more like China, or vice versa, both have major issues, I see positives and negatives in both.

I just think it’s unhealthy to demonise one and hold the other up like an angel, especially when we have Buckley’s chance of changing either of them, but we can profit mightily by being every ones friend.

it’s a bit like you will never get your fat friend to be healthy by shaming them, it’s better to lead by example and hope change comes from within, which in both cases of the USA and China I think over time both will continue heading in the right direction.

Before you make assumptions about George Floyd watch this full video of his death, It’s easy to make up excuses for the cops until you watch this video.

it wasn’t the drugs, you would have died too if someone put weight on your neck for this long.

And there are many signs he was dying, and then he was limp for ages, and there was no attempt to revive him.

If the video won’t play here.

search you tube for - George Floyd death full video

I think everyone needs to see the video before making assumptions

I never said democracy is perfect.

In fact it's the worst system around, apart from all the others. ;)

That's a Utopian position and impossible with two gorillas arguing about ideology.

We eventually will have to take one side or the other.

How do you know "it wasn't the drugs" (or the 75% blocked coronary arteries, or the stress of being detained for yet another breaking of the law by St George)? The 'experts' apparently divide just like the whole disintegrated USA but one 'expert' examiner said the autopsy results of GF read without extraneous facts would have concluded that he died of a drug overdose complicated by coronary artery disease.
It is even contested that the knee was on the neck, but possibly on the upper shoulder - from both a different phone video view and from the autopsy fact that there was no damage or dislocation of the hyoid bone nor any rupture of capillaries - no sign at all of neck trauma.
Why was he convicted of murder not at 'best' for the prosecution's case of negligent manslaughter? Would any white cop intentionally kill a black in the race obsessed U.S in full view of a hostile crowd filming him? How can you murder with no intent to kill?
I might try to watch the video sometime but most of the coverage just makes me angry and I try and I avoid it.

I don’t think we have to take sides, we don’t have to do anything, look at Switzerland, it’s an extreme example, but it has just stuck to its knitting, and I don’t think either China or America have any harsh feeling towards it.

Did you watch the video?

if you have a knee in your neck that cuts off your blood supply to your brain you will die in a couple of minutes, that’s what happened there.

even if it was drugs, you should attempt to revive the person, no attempt was made.

watch the full video I linked.

Did you read my rebuttal? Nope, too quick.
As said, I might watch it but can almost guarantee i could find a vid agaist your vid, so what point?
You make a big deal of no attempt to revive but an ambulance officer arrived and did. How does a cop render aid when he has his knee on a perp restraining him. I assert he didn't know Floyd was unconscious let alone dead. A most damaging witness against Chauvin who took your tack was his own commanding officer who is the first black in his position and would have been demonised himself if he didn't rat out Chauvin.

"if you have a knee in your neck that cuts off your blood supply to your brain ..."
You don't know this premiss at all - there is no evidence of it.

Yes I read your post.

Again I ask, have you watched the video?

China has been branded the world's worst executioner as the state kills thousands of people every year using firing squads, lethal injections and mobile death vans.
The true numbers of those killed by the Communist Party are thought to be staggeringly high – but the regime keeps them closely concealed as state secrets.

Human rights experts said the vile system has come into spotlight again after the killing of Chinese tycoon Lai Xiaomin.
