And the Farmer will have his diesel and petol supplies plus the already mentioned slatsh of cash to get through any predicament.I would also add that a natural solar flare of strong intensity would burn all electronics, and it is not a matter of if but when.
I suspect such a surge as we already experienced during Victorian time 1800s when it burn all telegraphic networks and early 1900s would probably cause great chaos, loss of lives and mass starvation...add cashless and EV and it becomes a civilization collapse scenario .
Yet it is not that hard to protect most electronics components yet we are forging ahead in complete ignorance.
When this happens, remember the frog, ASF will be down sorry Joe ..and prepare your guns to protect your canned beans
Trust no-one with our finances except She and Me.Yet you trust gummint?
Not this little black duck.
Me being old old school very suspicious of technology. I still work in feet and inches to the amazemnt of some who have no idea what a "foot" is except that it holds you up.So you don’t do any internet banking or anything? Or just not on your phone?
I kinda look at the phone as no different to a lap top or desk top computer as far as safety go.
Gotta love those cashed up horsey people driving the GMC or RAM with the double float, wanting small lucerne bales. Will pay anything .Ah we hold a couple of grand for safe keeping and emergencies, like when the credit card was scammed on a Friday. Card cancelled but fortunately cold hard folding was there.
Never had a problem with legal tender not being accepted.
We also love cash, especially when selling hay to the owners of the also ran hay burners.
No all banking via computer, and anything that I consider important also via computer. Phone is just a phone.
Main reason I have one is to avoid any hassles due to this.normally pay via a CC.
How does that work in situations where someone makes a refundable charge to the card to make sure it works?I haven't ha a CC for exactly 40 years (but do have a debit card). I've never had a problem
It seems to work the same. Have never had a problem or even been questioned about it. ??How does that work in situations where someone makes a refundable charge to the card to make sure it works?
Eg rental cars or hotels?
Does it cause any issues?
as long as you have the funds available to cover the charge it works exactly the same, in some scenarios better. How does that work in situations where someone makes a refundable charge to the card to make sure it works?

good on youThe two debit cards I have with different institutions, while branded by each financial institution as its debit card, is actually a Visa debit card and functions the same way as does a CC but uses cash rather than credit. I have had a dispute with a supplier, resolved in my favour, and the funds were re-credited to my cash account.

E.g you pay $600 for a service and transfer $600 into your account linked to the debit card (from a savings account)
Charge goes through, they try to overcharge you with some bs fee or "accidentally" charge you twice, the second charge bounces as there is now not enough funds.
They have to come you and explain rather then you chasing them up for a double charge on your credit card
Why I always also carry cashThat's a very good way to cover oneself, however, a problem may occur if there is no internet connection, or the bank app goes down.
Same here cautious when it comes financial institutions and my hard earned. Atthe moment having a barney with our bank for return of funds for goods not delivered. Not gettig much joy at the present. Why I always also carry cash

Hmm didn't think NOT accepting legal tender was allowed. Still if only a robot is there what hope is there. And in some instances the vision on two feet is often not much better than a robot. Either uneducated or speaks a different version of English to the locals.I wonder what will happen when they finally get rid of cash.
Refusing to accept cash is starting to become the norm.
Went to a function on the weekend, the standard drinks were supplied, and my wife wanted to buy a special drink for the birthday boy, the bar wouldn't take cash and the eftpos machine was playing up. Had to wait 20 minutes.
Sunday evening, I took one of our cars to the brushless carwash, I left my wallet at home but had about $30 cash. Lined up, put the $20 bill in the slot and no matter which way I turned it the machine would not accept it.
