Steve-IB,

What does "Wire Hold" in the Funds Status screen stands for?

I have deposited the fund to open my account almost a week ago. I saw it the Funds Status went to "Fund Received" but now it say "Wire Hold". There is $0 available for withdraw/transfer at the moment.

I have already raised a ticket, but I thought I would get a quicker answer from you in here.

In addition, the web trader seem to be "down" at the moment. Plus access to account management is quite slow at times.

Cheers,

Temjin

with IB you can not withdraw Funds that you have deposited for a certain period. Think its 5 days. Open TWS, go to View, then Accounts, the cash will probably be there to trade.

Got a ticket back from support, it's the same answer from you.

Since I opened a family and friend account, there is a master advisory account and a personal trading account with its own trading permission. I deposit the money INTO the master advisory account so I guess I cannot transfer them into the personal trading account until the freezing period is over.

Doh, I should have deposit directly into the trading account, but then I think it wasn't allowed at the initial stage. (or I didn't put it in the right account :D) oh well..

I think they also have to be the same names to transfer them between accounts or IB will not let you transfer money from one account to another even if they are sub accounts of an advisor account. I have an advisor account with soon to be 4 different sub accounts and I cannot transfer money from one to the other as they are all different names. ie a company, a personal, a friends and soon a super.

Three Questions
When IB can trade corporation option like CFEO, MRUO?
When IB can short shares on ASX?
When IB's workstation shares scanning function can work on ASX?

Thank you Steve.

Thank you Steve.

1. No plans to offer corporation options at this time. We may add them later if there is sufficient demand.
2. Shorting is available now, and has been for a few weeks.
3. I'll have the scanner programmed to work on ASX. Will probably take a week.

Hi Steve or Anyone that knows,

I have a regular margin trading account with IB. I am wondering is there any way to SELECTIVELY apply the margin to ONLY trades I want? At present it appears the margin applies to every trade I make - which isn't something I want on certain trades.

Is there some way to pick and choose which trades can have the margin applied to them?

IF NOT, how do I revert from a margin trading account to a regular - ungeared one?

Thanks, Nikko

I think you misunderstand how a margin account works. Even in a margin account, you only actually use margin if you do not have the cash in the account to fully cover the purchase of the stock.

Thus, the account acts as a cash account - until the point where you don't have the cash to fully cover the position

(Account stats will still show a "margin requirement" - as this tells you what you need to open/hold a position)

but on your website, it is said it is not available to short on ASX.

Sorry, that's a problem with the website. It shows none available for part of the trading day. Trying to get it fixed.

Currently there's around 150 stocks available to short. Best way to check if a stock is available is to place an order away from the market and see whether the TWS accepts it.

I'll get the website fixed.

Steve,

thanks for this - thats a relief - confused by the terminology in a few screens but thats good. Thanks, Nikko

Steve,

So sorry but JUST TO CONFIRM - when you have a margin account and you place a trade and go to transmit the order it pops up and advises of the MARGIN IMPACT - but this doesn't mean that you're using the margin facility on the account at all?

Sorry to double check.

Cheers, Nikko

INTRODUCING BROKERS COMMISSIONS MINIMUMS

A commission minimum of USD 2,000 (or equivalent) per month will be applied. In addition, a USD 10,000 (or equivalent) upfront deposit will be required that will be applied against commissions during the first five months of business. The USD 2,000 (or equivalent) monthly minimum will be waived during this period.

Does it mean that first five months commission cost will be USD 10,000 ?
