It was definitely a nicer feeling on the first and second day of the competition being in first place, but fortunately I knew it was a very high risk speccy and just bought a small parcel.

That is correct. Only those who finish the month in positive territory are eligible for competition prize money.
And no chocolates for anyone finishing 4th or lower not even 13th or last.Oh dear, oh dear, deary me.
So a person actually has to finish in the green to win.
It had always been the rule but I thought Joe @Joe Blow might have forgotten. Anyways I don't fancy my chances this month on LEX and the leaders are in positive territory anyway with a few weeks to go.
