Good morning everyone and welcome to the August 2019 stock tipping competition, the 15th anniversary of the first ASF stock tipping competition! :)

This month's competition is proudly sponsored by FP Markets.

FP Markets is an Australian owned and ASIC regulated broker with over 12 years experience and 35 industry awards including Highest Overall Client Satisfaction 5 years running. They facilitate trading in equities, indices, commodities, futures, Forex and Bitcoin via their MetaTrader4 platform.

FP Markets offer 10,000+ equities, indices and commodities across all major international markets. All equity CFDs are DMA priced and 100% hedged. FP Markets are not a market maker so their interests are aligned with that of their clients. You can go long on everything listed on the ASX and international markets and they have the widest short offering of any Australian broker.

This month there were two entrants who forgot to post in the thread of their stock tip in accordance with the competition rules: @Iggy_Pop, and @Gringotts Bank. I will give those two entrants another 24 hours to post in the thread of their competition entry. If they choose to do so then I will add them to the August competition. :)

Could all qualifying entrants please check their entries and entry price and report any errors to me in this thread.

Keep track of the results here: ASF Stock Competition Leaderboard

Feel free to discuss the competition in this thread as the month progresses.

Everyone's journey so far this month. There has been 5 breakaways from the pack with great % gains considering the overall market.

I have included the Sectors graph for this month and included Gold-AU for comparison, it certainly explains movements in gold stocks. AUGUST COMP 16TH.png

I have now moved up to 6th place and feel comfortably confident.

Feel afraid, greggles, explod, Pollocks, myrtie100, sptrawler.

Feel very afraid.

I'm coming after you guys.

Bring it on Mr. Gumnut. ADN has staying power this month. All I need is one more good announcement before the 31st and I'm a shoo-in for the top spot.

explod greggles myrtie100 Pollocks sptrawler Miner

It would appear that Miner has nudged ahead of me on the outside. Greggles is using the whip, never a good sign towards the end of the back straight.

CHK has had no whip. Is comfortably in seventh place and looking forward to the next two turns and the run in to victory.

You are going to have to do some serious ramping, to get that nag up, it will need more than a giddy up. :roflmao:

But it is plodding along well there GG so should hold your position there ok with 7 (7th) days to go.

ALC and MCR appear to have the right movement for a jump at it. Interesting finish possible so I'll keep my head in.

The gate didn't open at the jump. The SRG dark horse (when no stewards are looking) is gonna cop a big jab of Elephant Juice by jockey CEO at the AGM stakes. And then watch it run like a cheetah with 6 crackers at the base of its tail.
Or its Pal next week.

The ground covered by everyone's journey so far this month below.

Yes it should be an exciting finish, will anyone else be able to come from the pack to challenge the top five?
Time will only tell and there is still over 30% of the trading month to go, plenty of time some are saying.;)

I must agree that ADN seems to have edged foreward on the 2nd to last turn.

Always a dangerous place to be going on the outside.

The jockey looks a bit toppy and tired with the whip.

Well done so far mate.

GG can I suggest you get that special battery operated whip, from beneath the Ross River Hotel bar, and give your pony a bit of spark.:roflmao:

Well a very "umble" day for CHK.

I'm still with the mob, in 10th and greggles, explod, myrtie100, Pollocks, and sptrawler are a distance away going down the 2nd to last straight.

@explod kindly alerted me to CHK's rise of 25% today on reasonable volume.

Approx. $154,000 was spent by the buyers.

My Sicilian cane farming fixer from Ingham is semaphoring me to slow down, the Texas Holdem Group (THG) may have some side bets on, but I think it is now time to apply the whip.

@greggles be aware I may come up on the outside at the final turn.
