Hi All,

I am seeking some guidance on which market to trade. Currently I am residing in Dubai and I am an Aus citizen. I have been trading FX for years, however, I am making the move to equities. I need help with which region i should trade: US or ASX. I will need to learn both systems regards (I know all about charting due to FX work for years and this is not an issue), I would simply like to commit to one. Please see a few key points below that should get you to know my situation a bit better.

- I know charting (no issue here)
- I will end up living in Aus in one year and am not a fan of "night-shift'
- I believe that the brokage fees for US stocks will be insane
- I'm a scalper
- Strong financial institution background

Thanks for your help all

I have a feeling you need confirmation more than anything else, see points 2 or 3.so you are already inclined to go ASX now
In that case i would go ASX to avoid a mental stress later on.
I am not discussing the actual pro cons, but the fact if you force yourself to go US against your initial judgement, you will be in a weak state to handle issues, blaming them on your choice.
Keep this in mind.
Hopefully, more informed people will reply and give you a factual comparison.
Hope it helps.
Welcome back to Oz.
BTW: are you sure you want to come back?

In my opinion, these are your strongest reasons to trade the ASX if you are going to be living back in Australia. Put simply, you are going to have to be at your screens all night due to the style you trade - unless you only decide to trade for a specific block of the US trading day e.g. first 2 hours.

If you have a fiancé/wife, kids etc, is it going to be sustainable to be scalping US markets in the Australian time zone?

I don't trade US equities, but there are companies like Stake. You can find pricing information here.

@tech/a also speaks highly of Interactive Brokers. Pricing information here. I'm not sure about the tiered or fixed pricing structures. Maybe some who uses IB can elaborate on that.

There is so much you can trade in ASIA
IB best trading platform in my view.
Doesn’t have to be ASX.
