$33 Million megadraw

Just out of curiosity

What would you do with the money if you won lotto tonight? $33 million megadraw.

Lets take a proper stab at answering this question.

I agree with the Doc, you really cant go past a DB9. I've been a big fan of Ranges for a while so that would be on the shopping list as well.

I would probably trade a portion of it, maybe 10mil.
And the rest, pick up a few nice properties, maybe one in St.Tropez, and get one of those new condos they are building in the Bahamas. A nice boat as well maybe an 80footer, probably would set me back maybe 5-7mil.

And the rest maybe buy some clothes.

But I've never bought a ticket and never will. Dont like the probabilities.

Good idea! :D
I think Kristen Kreuk is better though.

so many possibilities!
start my own recording company?
research, design and build an entirely sustainable medium density development in the city?
start a 'fertility' health farm?
start a fund for dogs on death row - steaks, green pastures and a full-time ball-thrower for a few weeks before the final needle...
just thoughts from the last few minutes.
man, i wouldn't let money like that go to waste.

Thanks for taking the question in the way it was intended Nizar (and a few others),

I'd buy a house first, either on an island or on acreage in the Gold Coast hinterland. Then I'd buy a car, and pay off the rest of the families bills. Once we are all sorted, I'd take a holiday and see some of the world.

Then I'd invest some to make sure my family and I are set for the future.

Finally, I'd invest the rest (a min of $10m) and most of the interest each year would be donated to charity, with some being given/loaned to people who wanted to start their own business.

Heh, I really should check my ticket. But once I check it I'll know if I didn't win :)

Gonna put it all into super, and purchase myself a trophy wife(like anna nicole) when I'm 70.

Don't really feel like losing half of it too quickly, and I don't really care what happens to it after I'm gone.

So, Mouse, is what you're actually saying that once you had the house, the car, the bills paid and your family cared for, plus what sounds like a great scheme to help other people into their own businesses, you wouldn't particularly feel the need for more, just for the sake of having it?

Absolutely Julia,

I'd want to make the most of the money. Of course some would be spent on fun stuff like cricket pitches (or in my case a home gym and cute male personal trainer) but with that amount of money if it's invested wisely it could help a lot of people.

Sounds good to me. We're on the same page then. I'd just go for the animals before the people. People get more choices.

All the best

*chuckles*

Actually, as a wildlife carer I'd be making sure the animals are taken care of as well. That would be a hands on thing that doesn't need a huge amount of money. Part of the interest on the $10m that is going to be donated each year would be going to wildlife care, part to medical research and part to the people who had good solid business ideas and needed some help/mentoring (from my team of people chosen for that job).

Thanks for that Michael,

I am registered there, but if I check then I will know for sure that I didn't win. At least with today being a public holiday I can dream for one extra day before waiting to see if they are going to ring and tell me I won. :)

I'm not really into cricket :) I can watch an ocassional good game of football but cricket just doesn't make sense to me.

Imagine you were a struggler and sum1 also had this thinking in mind.
Nizar

I spend countless voluntary hours working to help strugglers as you call them.

What I was trying to say was that people have the capacity to make their own decisions and actively seek help if they want to change their circumstances. Our community has lots of resources for assistance.
But the dog that's starving, left all the time on the end of a chain and beaten regularly to assuage the bad temper of its owner, has no choices, unless an organisation like the RSPCA can intervene and save it.

Perhaps you're not an animal lover. Lots of people are not. I can't change that. It's not much different in my mind from wanting to protect abused children. They simply can't stand up for themselves. Your strugglers can.

Exactly.
Id rather be helping the poor child being regularly beaten by the abusive alcoholic father.

Each to his/her own.

Quite. If you read my original post you'd see that I'd also have given a third to the Salvos who do a huge amount of non-judgmental humanitarian work.

The dog ate my ticket! Now I'll never know whether I won or not...
p.s. Is it just me, or is this forum getting more competetive every day? Now we are arguing who picked the best charity to give the money away to! :banghead:

Well it was good to daydream I guess !

I'd have spent 10mil on family, friends, cars (TVR / Toureg) , house(s), etc without any difficulty I think :) Throw in a private party on some small tropical island for mates!

Then the remaining 20mil in an ing account earning $500k net until I found out what to do with it.

3mil to charity, but for me it's probably more a karma thing to spread the good fortune.

This sort of money could of course make/break families - You kinda wonder how spoilt your kids would grow up, and whether they would blow it all away (assuming you don't).
