How to show a date

I hate the way Americans show their dates!!

A year is broken down into months
A month is broken into days
You break something down from the whole to the part and in order.

Therefore logically,to show a particular day, in a particular month, in a particular year you would expect the following abbreviated format:

ddmmyyyy (or yyyymmdd)

example 21st day of October in the year two thousand and eight would be
21102008 or 21-10-2008 or 21/10/2008.

But no the Yanks have to be illogical (a kind word from me) and put their dates in the form:

mmddyyyy

(why don't they go the whole hog and go for mmyyyydd?? LOL )

Are there any other countries that are that stu**d?

Most of continental Europe date the same way, and drive on the Seppo side of the road too... In fact the Japanese, Brits, Kiwis and Aussies are about the only ones who drive on the left.

It is difficult in the minority...

India drives on the left, and if my memory serves me, so do the Chinese.
Looks to me like it is the minority that drive on the wrong side of the road. Although having said that I do remember that they drive on the left, and the right, and the middle, and off the side of the road.

The suspense is killing me. What is a fanny called over there? Or is that an inappropriate question for this forum?

The love of guns is what I don't get? Massacre after massacre yet gun control is not even mentioned in the primaries. Your life is worth less than my right to bear arms. It is a primitive place in may ways. At least the date being the wrong way around will not lead to a chest full of lead by a disgruntled postal worker or school boy!
