Knobby, I'm not in the least disagreeing with your sentiments.
Does it necessarily makes sense to believe everything Habib says?
I'm not saying it didn't happen exactly as he describes, but we only have his word for that, don't we?

I have been reading todays story in the Age of the torture of Mamdouh Habib in Guantonomo Bay. The USA makes me sick. What happened to your principles??
The interesting thing is that OP, way back in 2008, held two beliefs:
1/ The the purulent festering rot at the center of US politics is due exclusively to Republicans
2/. The Obama had the will and capabilities to change that.
Two terms later we see that neither belief is true. The Democrats are just as bad,if not worse, than the Pubs, and despite the ludicrously unbelievable rhetoric, Obama ha done nothing except further Social Democratic failures and force them on the population.
The gullible clown who supported him as messiah must be so disappointed and humiliated.
I can't see the way out except maybe a populist from the Republicans enabling change to occur - bring on Donald Trump. Any other suggestions?
His comments on Mexicans indicate that he couldn't care less about anyone except people of his own political/religious/economic demographic.
Anyone else think that the USA is a self regulation machine that only goes through the process of electing titular heads of state?
Obama was given a Nobel Prize because the pundits reckoned he would give impetus and momentum to the good fights of climate change, nuclear bombs and racism..... I'm not sure how the scorecard looks?
The USA is no longer acting like a nasty disease which is good. It was the torture in Poland and in the USA that got me writing this thread.
Obama couldn't achieve anything except stop the torture and stop the stupid economic/war decisions Bush kept making and improve the USA standing worldwide. Still stupid international decisions being made e.g. what was the USA thinking when they got involved with Ukraine?
Murdoch still has control with other oligarchs. This festering rot and paralysis is still mainly remaining due to the Republicans. Mish, for instance, is upset with it all.
I can't see the way out except maybe a populist from the Republicans enabling change to occur - bring on Donald Trump! You can understand why the American people are getting desperate. Any other suggestions?
