I heard the tech scene over there is a wreck. A lot of people out of work and 100s of applicants to whatever is going.
 
Only heard anecdotal stories of lots of phantom jobs where the org putting out the ad have no intention of filling position.
Its done for a few reasons:
To give the impression the company is growing.
To keep the existing staff keen if there are competition for jobs.
To keep a ready acessible file of candidates just in case they actually need to fill a position.

Fake job ads waste applicants' time and harm their wellbeing. So why are companies posting them?

Fake job listings are increasingly used by companies to give the illusion they're thriving and to placate overworked staff. If you're applying for work, there are plenty of clues to look out for to avoid wasting your time.

Heard this a lot. 500 plus jobs for 1 company and its all bogus. Have to wonder if it's to fudge figures for democrats
