Im not sure if i should have started a new thread for this, but im having trouble making a trade in the us.I attached a fx hedge to the trade like it said in the webinar notes but it says insuficient us funds to make trade, the amount is about10,000.I dont have a margin with them, but it says you need minumum of 100,000USD to have a margin.
Can anyone clear this up for me?
Thx in advance

Check the funds available for trading or liquidity in your account, by going to your account view.
My feeling is if you have 10K and you used all of it to initiate a position, AND you're trying to hedge, you don't have enough liquidity/funds available.
The "minimum of 100K USD" I think just means you don't have enough to take a 100K position with margin.

IB have AFAIK 3 types of accounts - Cash, Reg T Margin, and Portfolio Margin. For a Portfolio Margin account you need a minimum of $100,000. Most people I think initially get a cash account (in the currency they select) and later 'upgrade' to a Reg T margin account.

One way to sort this out is to wait until close to NYSE opening and initiate an online chat through the account management site. It can take a while but I find their advisors very helpful.
