Australian (ASX) Stock Market Forum

Today's trading on the ASX

Pleased with my purchase of GEAR this morning although down on total position.
I anticipated a bounce and bought asx200 cfd at 7195 (now 7313) exit stop raised to lock in 100pt. Just for fun.
Pleased to see gold +$60/oz off lows.

Overall I'm pleased with the price action this morning and hope it continues higher throughout today.

^^^ what a perceptive cartoon passed on by the leading independent thinker here. And funny too - the red tie HAHAHA, eyes, tears.
Ella Baron and the Guardian.
I too follow them both for independent analysis of the markets and the U.S economy.
What Trump and team are doing is great, surgical, had to be done (tariffs that is)
The stock market is not the economy
WAll St is punishing him because the 10% own 80% of the stock market (a figure pulled out of my arse) and tariffs hit profits by choking off access to slave labour.
Jobs for American workers and a chance in hell for U.S small businesses!
I am loving this smash of the bloated and corrupt stock market.

I wonder what the private schoolboys at the brokerages will discuss over lunch. My guess is sell further. US markets beckon and futures look ugly.

Australian advisors are unimpressed with Trumps relaxed attitude to "taking the medicine"

Tony Sycamore, a market analyst at IG in Sydney, said: “Things have gone from bad to worse this morning. The lack of reaction from Trump and from Bessent, in terms of their concern levels appearing to be very, very low in terms of the market dislocation. If there isn’t some sort of walking back of the announcements, then we’re heading for a liquidity event and liquidity will get sucked out of these markets big time across all asset classes.”

If the S&P 500 and the Dow drop significantly tonight the All Ords should see another big plunge tomorrow.

here I was running a quiet little 2- post-a-day thread, and this happens.
If it's wiped off, maybe it will be wiped back on again , down the track ??

Evening Wrap: ASX 200's Black Monday plunge lops billions from investors accounts: What, why, and where next? S&P/ASX 200 closed 324.5 points lower, down 4.23%.

Billions and billions 💰. Poof! 💥Where did it go? Will it come back? And when? 🤔
