The Voice

Thats unfair, no matter how I respond I am in trouble.
It is in the same category as me asking when did you siop beating your wife.
mick

You lost me?

My wife says I don't see things as well i.e. domestic blindness.

This is why The Voice is wrong and at least deceptive and perhaps goes against the racial discrimination act.

Labor is trying to sell this as ‘inclusive’ but it’s actually the complete opposite. They want to create a body, that government will find hard to ignore, that only represents a very minor % of the population. Unelected by the population. Imagine if Thorpe or her acolytes get on this anti-democratic gravy train? There’s nothing equal or fair about this at all.

Don't announce your intentions DB, the "authorities" will find a way to discount your vote.
Mick:cool:

This concept is not out of the ball park. The YES vote has been funded. I do not think a NO vote has. I think, maybe, a couple of people who identify as Aboriginal are putting a NO case together, but it’s not funded, unlike the vote for apartheid.

Lidia Thorpe has just quit the Greens so she can go hard against the Voice!

"My strength and conviction comes from a lifetime of activism, from my Ancestors and from my Matriarchs, who continue to say to me every day, 'keep infiltrating, keep your integrity, keep the fire burning, keep our fight alive."

"To my mob, I say this – your strength is my strength, your fight is my fight, your struggle is my struggle. I’m ready for what comes next in the fight for a future where our kids are with their families, where our people are not killed in custody, where the chains that the system wraps around our people are lifted."

Well you guys have a strong ally to stop it. I'm eating some popcorn.

There you go, I thought she was strongly for the Voice and Jacinta Price was against it, just shows how much confusion surrounds it. ?

So who wants the 'voice'? Other than the white fella's in Canberra, to form another gravy train. ?

She of course has her eyes on the bigger prize. The "no" case she be very careful before embracing her opposition to this. Thorpe's idea will take us out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Thorpe just wants more I think. The Voice isn’t enough. I think she wants a ‘treaty’ but what that practically means is unclear. I think it gives justification for reparations. I very much doubt it’s a purely symbolic gesture. How that stops alcoholism, the abuse of women and kids, keeps the men out of jail and kids in school is a bit of a mystery. Closing the gap will never happen until the bush communities close down and they migrate into the cities, go to school, get jobs and join in modern life. Can’t see that happening any time soon.

She will most likely become even more irrelevant.
At some point she must come up for reelection.
Such divisive characters seldom get a second chance from the wise electors.
After getting voted in by defeating a labour candidate in a 2017 by-election, she lost her Victorian assembly seat to labour when rolled at the 2018 by the daughter of a Vic labour luminary, Theo Theophonous .
She was parachuted into the senate when Richard Di Natale bailed out.
She retained her seat in the 2022 election.
So, after getting into parliament isn a by election, she was booted out in a general election, and got her next seat without going to the Voters.
I suspect the same fate will await her in the next senate Election when she is up for reelection.
She has some parallels with another divisive shrill, Kristine Keneally.

Watch out for an "indigenous rent levy" on all households to pay for the "dispossession".

I think something like this has been proposed before hasn’t it? But I think it was a one-off payment of about $200k for every Aboriginal? If The Voice proposed something like that does it have to be considered?

Unfortunately, she’s in my electorate which is mostly the City of Yarra which is the most woke electorate in the country. There’s every chance she gets elected on her own. ?

Which is what I suggested on the ASF forum, when Kevin Rudd made the apology, instead of sending a cheque to everyone and their dog he should have paid compensation to the Aboriginals.
At least the money would have stayed circulating in the Australian economy, instead of going to China for the purchase of plasma t.v's, which are now on the land fill or being used as room heaters. :wheniwasaboy:

But now she is in the Senate, which will make it difficult to get a quota.
The folk in your electorate will most likely vote above the line for the greens, so unless she gots a lot of below the line votes across the entire state, she will struggle.

In that case I will self identify myself as Aboriginal and will stand in line with my hand outstretched.

Politics is compromise.

If the far right and far left successfully work together to stop the Voice, well where to next?
Lydia is going for the big win, even if it takes another 30 years.
She has her eye on the prize. I would have my money on her.
