The state of the economy at the street level

So when the time comsto sell up and the move to the Southrn end of the State comes to fruition, I guess we will be sort of self funded till it is blown.
i am half expecting something really nasty coming that is why i am fleeing to a hillside with a herb garden ( and some fruit trees and grape vines ) it won't be paradise but will certainly beat urban cannibalism

One thing is for sure mr Divs we will never be in the burbs again. A couple of acres yes but must have a bit of space around us. Been too long living the way we like and want to.

I wastold by the GP's and Specialists that I would qualify for disability persion etc, but I wasn't ready mentally for it, and am now glad that i chose the current path that I am travelling on.
A limited intake of pain-killers do make this road an little easier to traverse though.
These will be with me until I am ashes floating around somewhere.
the pain-killers ate a hole in my stomach in the 1980s , some unconventional use of ( legal ) herbs got me through the next 30 years

my GP was shocked i got the disability pension only six days after the medical review , a week later he got a copy of the angiogram and was shocked again ,

lived periods in both worlds there is a time for each , but i see a storm coming ( and i don't mean the weather )

memo to self find a pad to keep track of the rainfall in the new digs ( it comes with it's own rain-gauge ) i suspect the wet season varies from what i am used to

I was on a ramp of mind bending pain killers whilst in RPH and at home, but only for a short while. The GP got me all except one very quickly. The one I take now is more irregular than regular. Depending on what I have been doing Neck, shoulder and knee sometimes just need that zap. A box of 30 lasts me about 13 months so the GP is happy with that consumption.
Though the writing is on the wall for Shoulder and Knee major surgery at some stage in the future.

the new digs has both a bore and a spring to go with the 40 inches ( approx. ) of rain a year , and on the Great Divide so should be more reliable than most places ( more than adequate to keep the plants healthy ) , i suppose i should ask about snow ( it should be rare but not impossible , since it has some height to it )

Good morning,
Some really interesting posts.

Do acknowledge you can grow your business too big too quick... and that there is a paradigm shift, 'work life balance' is becoming the norm. Not entirely sure what that means? But, guessing work less and spend more quality time with family. Nice, if one can still earn good, pay the bills, and have a good quality lifestyle without having to work all the time. Good luck to ya. Without work rcw1 would be lost...

Home deliveries along with a menu change, saved a family restaurant business from complete obliteration, during the height of COVID19 restrictions. Cook, jump into a car and deliver... so simple, but effective. Thankfully the business survived and doing well. Kin do the heavy lifting with respect to this income stream they are all chefs with big hearts and high levels of motivation, they had good mothers :)

Just how much work per week is reasonable? 40 hours, 50, 60 ... more ? less? If capable to earn, how much money does one want to have?? and at what cost? Truley believe everybody gets 'burnt out' at some point, but levels may well vary dependent on an ability to combat stress and what support one has around. Gambling, alcohol [ ouch ... :) ] drugs, loneliness .... , lack of confidence etc... can take some time to get back into the niche and get the job done.

Everybody does need to have dedicated time away from the salt mine, so to speak and be responsible enough to look after one's body and mind and soul...

No inch or quarter given nor taken. Work and provide for kin, and work again and be grateful for what you got.

Have a very nice weekend. Punting day today :)

Kind regards
rcw1

Hi divs4ever,
Sounds really nice, when do you move in? Unless rcw1 missed something ....

Can I be so bold as to inquire, what part of the great divide?

Kind regards

Yes, the skill of using "Cut & Paste" is paying off big time for the younger generation. Wish I had that "skill"? back in the day.

You may have been misinformed. There have always been people looking for short cuts, some lazy and others with initiative. However, I have seen and continue to see 'the younger generation' working very hard to learn and graduate, then move into high skilled work that required continued training and education.

We’re doing numbers we’ve never done before. Year to date we’re averaging $207 a night. Pre-pandemic we averaged $180-$185 a night

....which is really only inflation +, but it's a rebound.
