The Olympic Torch Relay

wow..
that one in response to Rogge's comments ... (certainly he seems to have been drawn into the politics of the situation).
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/04/10/2213750.htm

he goes on ...
cuttin short the torch relay won't be on the agenda !
(yeah right).
How about the third option of a polite request to cancel taking it through Tibet? - on the agenda that is. Then again, the Chinese will be "in control" there I guess - and wanting to demonstrate the fact perhaps .

Next question (s). - maybe for a different thread..
Did they do the right thing in giving it to China?
Will the Chinese people learn something from all this?
Will the Chinese leadership learn something from all this?
.........
Where will China rank in world powers in 2050. ?

....
PS Do the British have a perfect "human rights" record in China? - considering they muscled into China during the Opium Wars, by converting the people to addicts - where even missionaries were doubling as drug pushers
PS Do the Chinese people remember little things like that?

Next question
What relative weighting do we give to Chinese politics versus these blokes (AQ etc) who are without doubt waiting in the background to mess up the party ? ...

Here is more of our "free media" in action.

Over the weekend, over 5000 people in Sydney and Melbourne protested against media distortion and violence instigated by Tibetans and for peaceful Olympics.

Channel Ten and BBC:

Now compare the above reports with our good ole right wing Channel 9 that managed to turn it into "a couple of hundred Chinese people protesting against human rights":

Plays on the user names of other members is considered deliberate trolling behaviour and is therefore unacceptable. (i.e. modifying someone's user name and turning it into an insult).

If you cannot avoid making things personal then perhaps it's best that you don't post in political threads as infractions will be issued to those who choose to make personal attacks on others.

Lets stick to the issues please.

Shall I quote what was acually said juw, or will you fess up that the report says nothing like:

"a couple of hundred Chinese people protesting against human rights"

Time to be honest - are you up to it?

A2A, sometimes you should just let things go or just don't participate in discussions. No need to make attacks on people who don't agree with your one sided views.

They were thousands of people, not hundreds. It was not a protest to end Chinese human right protests like Channel 9 is trying to twist it into. It was a distorted news report because what happened does not sit with the USA funded free tibet campaign.

You will have to have zero comprehension skill if you cannot see any distortion in the report.

Comprehension is fine at my end. I think you may be the one struggling.

The nine report says "they are calling for a peaceful games and an end to the human rights protests".

How does that translate to "a couple of hundred Chinese people protesting against human rights", as you report it as saying. Yes those are your quotation marks- talk about distortion of the truth.

None of the world's problems were ever solved on an internet forum.

Don't strain anything.

Gee DJ, you try telling him, the kid just wont let it go.

I would debate with you A2A if you had some good points / arguments to boot so feel free to bring something new to the table. Looking at your post history, I am not so sure what point you are trying to argue.
