Good morning everyone and welcome to the November 2019 stock tipping competition! :)

This month's competition is proudly sponsored by FP Markets.

FP Markets is an Australian owned and ASIC regulated broker with over 12 years experience and 35 industry awards including Highest Overall Client Satisfaction 5 years running. They facilitate trading in equities, indices, commodities, futures, Forex and Bitcoin via their MetaTrader4 platform.

FP Markets offer 10,000+ equities, indices and commodities across all major international markets. All equity CFDs are DMA priced and 100% hedged. FP Markets are not a market maker so their interests are aligned with that of their clients. You can go long on everything listed on the ASX and international markets and they have the widest short offering of any Australian broker.

This month there were two entrants who forgot to post in the thread of their stock tip in accordance with the competition rules: @barney, and @charlsie. I will give those two entrants another 24 hours to post in the thread of their competition entry. If they choose to do so then I will add them to the November competition. :)

Could all qualifying entrants please check their entry and entry price and report any errors to me in this thread.

Keep track of the results here: ASF Stock Competition Leaderboard

Feel free to discuss the competition in this thread as the month progresses.

Lol … At first I thought that can't be right … I've posted nearly half the recent posts in the BLK thread … but guess who didn't post this month:dummy1:

Anyway, I have now posted, and I appreciate your leniency @Joe Blow but by the same token, I am happy to be left out of the actual comp if it creates any difficulties either logistically or with any other members … Rules are rules:happy:

Thanks for posting barney. :xyxthumbs

I don't want to exclude anyone from the competition and I realise that sometimes people forget. It's a common symptom of old age. ;)

But seriously, as you say, rules are rules and I need to do the reminder each month for the benefit of those entrants who forgot to post in accordance with the rules. I'd even exclude myself if I was entering and I forgot to post. :D

hi joe, please leave me out due to not replying in a timely manor. I'll make sure I follow the rules properly next time

Charlsie, I note you are a recent inductee to ASF … I think its important to point out that @Joe Blow was not singling either of us out (I've been round a long time:oldman:) … it is just in the rules of the comp and he was adhering to those rules lest he cop a rev up from any unhappy punters for possibly showing favoritism:p

In defence of that, may I point out that one of our most prolific posters @tech/a also missed out last month (not sure, but may have gone close to winning the comp??) … so if there is any sense of discontentment on your part, may I say, please don't think there was anything personal involved, and please throw up a post in the TGR thread and be re-instated in the monthly comp:woot: (You still have time!)

ps TGR looks ok and a good chance this month:bookworm:

Hi @charlsie I echo @barney comments above, Joe has stated you do have some time up your sleeve for the post. You have already picked your selection by the cut off time so just throw a post in the TGR thread as Barney stated above. I have already done up the graph with all the entries including you, it's your favorite color. :) All the best for the comp.

Legend:happy: ............

@charlsie .... You are now obligated to post!

Otherwise I will be singled out as a 'cheater' AFTER I win this months competition:couchpotato: lol

and AFTER I was the sole late poster:bucktooth:

You are placing me in an awkward position if you don't post:D

hi barney and debtfree, I feel a fair bit embarrassed now that I didn't quickly put a post in the thread that I could've easily done in the time given. my only excuse I can give is that I was so harried by my 15yo that I was going to burst. barney, no personal offence was taken and it did occur to me that it would put you in a crappy compromised position, I apologise sincerely for that. all I wanted to do was acknowledge Joes and your post and get on with more pressing engagements. I've really enjoyed all the information that is on the forum and when life slows down a little I look forward to committing more time to engage in some thoughtful dialogue on the vagaries of trading. warm regards charlsie

I just realised what's happened. Your pick AUZ had a big gap down due to some offtake agreement lapsing. Ouch !

:roflmao: I was going to pick SCL and looked at some news which turned me off a little. So back to "Just pick a chart Debtfree" (no news) and up came AUZ, that will do! Ouch alright!
I was setting up all entries of the Comp in the compare chart, at the start most of the lines were the same color and I could see 1 was up a long way and 1 was down a long way compared to the others.
As I started to change the colors of the lines to suit the competitor's names I noticed @bigdog was the one that jumped. I only had a few left to do when I changed the color of AUZ then it hit me, WHAT!! :eek:
That's the reason of the post. :)

:D I was just trying to be slightly silly so I should perhaps apologise to you;) I just didn't want you to miss out on the comp.

Anyway, if you have a 15 year old to deal, you have a legitimate excuses on many fronts:nailbiting::wacky:

I hear Valium can be helpful:D

No apologies needed barney, as your use of emojis explain exactly where your coming from. If they're an indication of yourself, I can only conclude that you're an extremely genial type that loves a bit of light hearted banter. and yes Valium might be something I could use :laugh:

Go @Miner :eek: What a rise!:D
totally off the topic after contemplating should I make a comment on Barney's end of the message in a more 'big dad' type satire :)
"If you are determined to bite the hand that feeds you … DON'T BITE TOO HARD!:D"
  • @barney - it is very true - engineering wise - Lenz's law in electrical engineering says the same.
  • We children survive on our parents' hands and deny them in most of the cases unless we expect some inheritance.
  • We deny history at every stage from which we came
  • we lose the opportunity by killing the goose which lays golden eggs - not proverbial but we lost the opportunity being a God gifted country and forgot our manufacturing skills - offloaded to China, We gave away our technological skills - depends on China and India;
  • We deprive our children and for a quick profit - outsource our labour to others - even our governments are outsourcing;
  • education - we deprive our children and instead invite foreign students without quality control for quick money. Our kids do not want to go beyond class 12. They are either going back to their own country and tell us how to suck eggs or joining the job queue with others;
  • Infrastructure planning - so poor and capital intensive which is not sustainable to maintain. We forgot to promote shuttle busses, trains instead of cars and long roads - Long run, there would be no money left to maintain them. The decision-makers in Main Roads, only looked at their own benefits to grow and never gave advise government/s strategically for the country sake.
  • finally - the worst enemy of ours is our Union - they always made our labour force more and more incompetent by becoming lazy and greedy - result - low profit and jobs gone to China, Taiwan, Malaysia, India, Philippines, Bangladesh - just see now a days who are pushing trolleys, driving Ubers, driving trucks, running petrol stations, IGA and IT Industry within Australia and outside. Sorry, but many of our children are busy surfing, having fun in beaches, Kuta and alike. All of them eventually will have short term fun but not contributing to GDP. If our unions were far-sighted then we would not have bitten the hands which were feeding us (or bite too hard as you said).
