My 52 Trades

I risk 2% or $200 per trade. My buy price is $10.00, My stop is @ $9.50, therefore the amount I am risking is 0.50. I position size using this $0.50 amount. $200 divided by $0.50 ='s 400 shares

Buy 400 shares @ $10.00 ='s $4000
Sell 400 shares @ $9.50 ='s $3800

Amount risked for the trade - $200

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks, that makes perfect sense.

Hello all, following on from skc's thread I thought I'd post up 52 of my own trades (Paper Trading Still) for a review and analysis.

I'll add to the thread in the coming days as I re-examine trades/ect.

For now here are some charts. :)

Hi Johnnyg... thought I'd come over here and give you some love on your thread.

First of all well done. Not because you are profitable but because you seem to have followed due process: position size, risk management etc. I like the way you categorised your trades based on set up. Definitely a useful review tool.

In all the talk about comparison between trading results and index. I agree that's all pretty pointless. It is however a useful set of data to keep for analysis purpose. It reminds you what sort of market conditions was prevailing for that set of trades.

By and large your set ups (and my trading was similar) worked thanks largely to the strength in the overall market. If you are to use the same set ups over the next 3 months and the market is choppy, your W/L ratio and win% will be vastly different. Same thing obviously if the market was to tank. It's all about adapting strategy to market... as nomore4s thread here https://www.aussiestockforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17773

Cheers for the reply skc, it will be interesting to see the results of my next 50 trades.

I was actually planning to start trading with real $ before Christmas however realize now that there is no rush, and with markets slowing right down over the Christmas break I've decided to save up some more funds, and start in the new year.
