Hello All,

For all those Metastock Users out there, has anyone ever encountered the following error message?

"mswin has encountered a problem and has to be shutdown"

Thanks.....

Chorlton

Hi Chorlton,

... that message comes up sometimes, especially when using
older Metastock versions, running on XP operating systems,
but aside from that, it does not seem to affect the program,
once it has been restarted ... in fact, sometimes it will ask
if you want to restore to the screen, the same charts, that
you were looking at, when it shut down ... :)

have a great day

Hi Paul.

Thanks for the reply.

I seem to be getting this message when I run an exploration is Metastock.

I'm using Version 9 under XP, but thought this problem was resolved from version 8 onwards.

Ah... well.... have to keep my fingers crossed in the future ;)

Ive had the same experience as Paul.

Since running on 2000 Ive not had a problem.
Right click M/S Icon >>> Properties >>> Compatability >>> Alter to 2000.

Just saw your post.
Could be a Smart chart problem.
Go to each folder and DELETE all smart charts---ONLY those marked Smart charts.
Run Defrag.

Had this as a problem once as well.
Smart charts re generate each time you open a new chart.

Hello Tech,

I've already played around with the Compatibility properties within MSwin but with no luck. I've tried the NT and 2000 settings as well as leaving the checkbox unchecked but the problem still exists.

I didn't realise that the Smart Charts may be the cause though so I will delete them tonight and see if the problem goes away....

Thanks....
