Oh dear sails - when you over the bitterness and paranoia and ready to make some positive suggestions, please contribute to this thread.
Just for the record, I have never deleted any posts of yours. Never. None.
I have moved one across to a more appropriate thread, thats it.
I realise you are grieving, so will leave it at that.
It is now time for Libs to get real, to stop engaging in self-indulgent whining, moaning, misrepresentation, infighting, backstabbing, and (more) moaning.
Whining that the independents cost the Libs the election, that the 2PP vote favoured the Libs (incorrect as well as irrelevant) is just so much self-indulgent claptrap.
The pundits are saying there will be a new election in 6 to 12 months, so this time wasted in petty crying over spilt milk is too valuable to fritter away. It is time to fix the rot. I know there is a grieving process to work through, but really, let go of the bitterness, with only 6 to 12 months (if that proves to be correct, and lets assume that is the timetable) there is not a moment to be lost.
Let us face facts; Abbott lost a pretty much unloseable election. Anyone with an ounce of nous can figure that out. Check out the pages and pages of comments just on ASF alone. The ALP waste and mismanagement, no confidence in Rudd, the Garrett insulation stuff ups, the schools stuff ups, the stimulus …. And on and on it went.
How could Abbott fail? He needed just a handful of seats in Qld. and NSW, and another seat here or there … OK, so lets look at his performance.
He did well in Qld., as he should have; again, all the pundits were saying that Bligh was on the nose so badly Abbott would easily pick up seats there, and he did. I have 6 seats in Qld. that changed hands from Labour to Liberal/National (happy to be corrected if my numbers are incorrect, accuracy is important).
But his performance in NSW was little short of appalling. The same pundits were saying the Kenneally/Rees/Iemma/dog’s breakfast that is NSW government would easily see Abbott pick up seats there …. But he did atrociously. In NSW Abbott picked up two seats. Just two! That is a dreadful performance, in his home state, no less.
Elsewhere, Abbott picked up one seat in WA, and picked up one seat in the NT. Great.
Abbott lost two seats to Labour in Victoria. Lost seats? Unreal.
So, net, Abbott picked up 8 seats. He won 8 seats in what was really an unloseable election, that is terrible.
And I haven't even mentioned the losses in the senate. Abbott lost more seats in the Senate than any other party!
The sooner these facts are recognized the better. There really is no time to lose. If there is an election in 6 to 12 months time and Abbott is leading, the coalition risks losing 3 elections a row.
Numbers dont lie, people.
It is time to face facts, time to harden the you-know-what up people, this loser has to go before he does any more damage.
No, not grieving, just don't understand why you have started two new threads today that are anti Coalition.
So can we all go wild now and start new political threads with slogans of our choice?
Stop romancing with yourself Timmy, you are getting really carried away.
Timmy, the two threads you have started today seem quite contradictory.
First one was: Lib/Nat backstabbers
Second one: Lib/Nats: Stop the rot, Abbott must go!
So on one hand you are accusing them of back stabbing and the very next thread you are calling for Abbott to be stabbed...
So, the knives are out. Good thing, too.
Yes, I think getting rid of Abbott is a good thing.
No contradiction.
Is that clear enough?
But replace him with who?
HUH ..... who do we replace him with? 2 bushy eyebrows and a drovers dog?
Oh dear, dear Timmy, so who do you suggest should replace Abbott? Not that I expect a sensible reply...lol
Thank-you sails.
Good question, and you are right, no sensible suggestions from me.
Any thoughts or is Abbott the most we can expect (shudder)?
Surely there is some competent leadership material in the ranks?
I have no problem in sharing different view points, but feel the new threads you have posted today are somewhat inflamatory to those who share a different view.
