Landslide for Trudeau in Canada: Implications for Oz?

I have no idea of how accurate the following is.
if in fact it is close to the real position in Canada, its a damning spit in the eye for Trudeau and his policies.

We were in Canada in April / May the big issue on people's lips was immigration and the cost of housing.

A mate of mine migrated to Canada works in Vancouver, great fitter machinist, did his time at the Midland railway workshops in Perth years ago, when we talked to him and his wife, it sounds very similar to here, the middle class getting hammered.

Exactly. Canada had close to 10 years of progressive left wing government. In the same period Aussieland has had about 8 years of Right wing government and 2 years of centre left.

Both countries are in the same situation. Yet all the sheep think there's an actual difference between the "two" parties.

As a practical observation the Left seeks to force implementation of its policies regardless of who's in government.

Anyone who disagrees will find themselves the focus of a protest, blockade, legal challenge, reputation destruction or other campaign until they give in.

Even as an individual that is the case. Most things from the Right are optional, you can opt out should you wish to do so, versus anything from the Left where going along with it is usually mandatory in practice. :2twocents

The problems faced by both countries are the same, how do we grow the economy when all we do is dig and ship materials, the answer both countries have come up with is rapidly grow the population and that has happened recently in both countries.

The problem both countries are facing is, they aren't growing the pie, just growing the number of people that want s piece of it.

They have to work out how to grow the economy, not just the demand, that's where they are both failing IMO.

With the added problem that they're growing the population whilst trying to actually constrain demand for political reasons, thus leading to a rapidly shrinking slice of pie per capita. :2twocents

I thought there were studies on eating insects that found it to be harmful to humans?
Things around chitin, parasites, bring on allergies?
I know in insect fed animal farms they have a high % of parasites.

The similarities between OZ and Canada are striking.
Very similar in that its a vast country with lost of very sparsely poulated areas, where mining and agriculture are important, has had a massive increase in immigration, and jobs growth is almost the exclusive domain of the public sector.
This is where we are headed.

An interesting piece of Canadian history of which I was unaware.

It surprises me little that the vast majority of the equalisation payments ends up in Quebec.

Like many in the USA, he struggles to understand the British Westminister system of government.
And Trump has aleays shown his contempt for anything not USA.
Technically, the Canadian Govenor General , as the representative of King Charles, ranks higher than the prime Minister Trudeau.
I doubt most Americans even know they have a GG.

Trump was president for 4 years and would have been guided through protocols.

Not sure if Trump has accepted much guidance over the years.
With such a large ego, he is his own man, and in his last appearance as president managed to surround himself with yes men.
Good leaders accept counsel from others.
Great leaders accept counsel from those who are idealogicaly opposite.
