F*** me!!! IB have lost my ASX commissions. :banghead: I can't make money
with this s*** vetting process.

Time to open that Paritech trading account.
 
wtf just tried to buy some lgl on close and didnt go through but it had green status :confused:

I just got off the phone from IB's Trade Desk in HK. They tell me that I'm the only one who is having issues with their new implementation for Pre & Post market. Can't tell me if anything will be done since I'm the only 1 who has this issue.

So if the rest of you are having problems, why are you just just keeping to yourselves and venting them just on this forum? Call good old IB a call and let them know.

It's better that you guys call so that they get the message. They need to relax their vetting process premarket a little.

Hey Paul, I've already complained to them, but if this is what they're telling you, I'll give them another serve tomorrow. I don't want to have to go elsewhere but they're costing me money right now. It's also not just the auctions that are the problem. I can't even execute transactions during the day where a share is affected by this 10% filter.
 
I've been looking to open an account with IB but it sounds like I should hold off until some sort of resolution is found with the current problem. I'm a newb so would you guys/gals agree with my thinking? Some feedback/opinion (not advice) would be appreciated.

It would take you time to get used to the platform anyway. It depends what you mean by Newbie. Are you intraday trading or just investing? Have you been using any other professional platform?

I don't think these issue would apply if you are longer term investors/position trader. I'm sure they will address that hopefully soon with the number of people complaining. Besides, IB's business model is fully electronic. By me calling them every few hrs, they are getting to know the ASX stocks pretty well.

Anyone else have trouble with IB dropping out and losing data connections all morning?

Data connection is fine now, but something terribly wrong with the orders.

1. Orders went through even though I cancelled them this morning.

2. Stop orders (that have been sitting in the platform for weeks) didn't execute.

3. Booktrader order recorded but did not execute.

It was disgraceful.

Please call the Trade Desk and let them know. I usually call in the afternoon. They remove the cap so trading during the day is not much of an issue compare to Pre/Post Market. Their system restricts buying level which are 2 calendar days old!

Eg: if a stock closes at 50c 2 days ago and I want to buy the stock @ closing price of 70c, then my buying would start at 50c and move 1 tick up every minute. So if the stock is at 70c, then it would take more than 10 minutes for the buy point to get there which means we miss out on buying the stock.

So avoid PreOpen/Close unless you set the buy price to a very high level.

Have longer term stocks atm - down to 2 positions. Moving to trade EOD because of how the market is (I don't have the time to trade intra-day even if I had the experience).
Am with CommSec. Prior to that used a phone broker years ago. Am looking at IB due to lower fees. decided to use bulk of cash to pay off mortgage & have about 15K atm but that will be added to very quickly.

I take it then that by not being intra-day that a lot of the issues won't be a hassle for me?

I am trying to withdraw some money from IB to my Aussie bank, but there is no where to enter the standard BSB number.

I tried to enter name of bank and it came up with a list of swift codes to a branch in each capital city, but none of these were my actual branch. Do I...

1. Select the capital city which my branch is located in?
2. Request the money to be sent in a cheque?
3. Never withdraw any money from IB?
4. Other?

Hi,

Ring up your bank to get the swift code, in the account number field enter your BSB and account number as one.

It works for me but i dunno if it's 100% correct.
 
Any way to log back into TWS without restarting it? My connection keeps dropping, and TWS only seems to try reconnecting for a very short period (before the internet connection is re-established).

how long before TWS stops trying to reconnect? my connection dropped out about half hour ago. I unplugged modem and TWS automatically reconnected after being disconnected for about 3 minutes

IB is having issues with the servers in HK and Australia. You can call them to close any positions but none of the stops/trails are working currently. They should be back hopefully soon.
