Inflation

Good grief, a fully qual'd vet only earns ~75k? :/
I can confirm. The only way to make real money in veterinary is to own a surgical practice.

It's bizarre that me as a farrier is making more than twice as much as most vets I collab with. Technically, I am not even required to have quals to do my job (although I and others do, along with a ton of CPD).

That said, some vet practice*owners make a freaking motza.

I know that my son turns over nearly 1mil for his employer His base is 75k but they all seem to be employed on this causaul basis which is so wrong. Can be sacked at a minutes notice and miss out on lurks and perks that they would be entitled to under a different employment system.

Yeah WaneL big animals down to dogs Not cats birds, rates or mice. Has a couple of big horse and dairy joints he looks after plus surgical skills that people chase him for.

I know the overheads are astonishing. A good friend of mine in Qld (One man traveling horse vet) showed me his invoices. His drug bill alone is about 40k a month... 80-90k for a decent digital x-ray machine ++±

My material cost is about 1.5k per month and probably about 10k worth of kit lol.

He certainly struggles at times but has a good partner at home.
This is where the big money comes into it.
No one really wants to do these kinds of jobs long term.
A vet can be a lifelong career. Trades, or physical you are blown out by 40s.
It simply is not attractive to people as that extra pay is often down to 12hour shifts.
There isn't a huge amount of people willing to do it.

Back on topic, a post about aus specifically this time:

Liberal party members are starting to break ranks.

Rennick is as close to the only maverick left in the LNP and of course he is a QUEENSLANDER ( although surprising with a city seat )

but immigration in times like this is double-edged sword , i have had several international Uni graduates as my taxi drivers ( and they have not been 'useless degrees ' , things like automotive engineers , civil engineers , etc etc ) so you must wonder .. do they earn or buy their degrees ??

both major parties lure migrants to combat the aging/shrinking population , but are slow on infrastructure when deploying the MMT cash

MMT might work if the cash-splash was used on major infrastructure projects creating short term ( say 5 years ) employment but long term productivity via improved cost-efficiencies

i had heard of some examples at TAFEs , but nothing on the grape-vines except vague hints on Unis

am not sure Australia will benefit much from 'certified' residents to fix skill shortages

interesting times coming to Australia as well , it seems ( every good idea gets corrupted )

Americana land perhaps for a gilded edge piece of paper saying Bachelor of Whatever.
no , no definitely deals done for some TAFE paper , but had no solid info on proper Unis ( just the odd suspicion )

other lesser certificates are sometimes worth less than the envelop they came in ( no rare stamp needed )

one would have to dig deep and see how CPI is measured this time around , one might expect lower oil/fuel prices found their way into the calculations this time , maybe rent moratoriums as well

will be watching for the Shadow Stats calculation as well

however the US is mostly green and i still have a few share parcels to sell this week , so up may be beneficial to me despite my skepticism

If you take a look, you'll see that the "core" inflation number is much worse than the rest. It's only the dump(s) in things like tech that's offsetting the increases in, say, energy ;)

Without those offsets, things would look much worse.
