How are the Indexes calculated?

I know its got something to do with the sum of the price * market cap, but how do we then get to something like 4840? Being the ASX200 price at the moment.

Is there anywhere I can get the GCIS Sector index information? If the initial question can be answered I can calculate the information, but if the historical values are available, it will save me some time.
