As I said before , the Australian electorate is essentially conservative and Labor has to be pretty good to stay in power.

Labor have been neo-liberalism for quite some time very much centre politics immigration laws, security laws etc are all very conservative yet Labor have either raised them or accepted them.

At at a social conscience level Labor have also been very moderate or community mainstream.

The Teals look more Labor than Coalition yet they are / were very safe Liberal seats.

All of this is at odds with the extreme language trotted out continuously / embarrassingly about Labor by goose stepping resident extremists'.

I voted for Albo and apart from the shocking voice presentation and the setting of unachievable renewable targets, he has done pretty good. The military is getting money spent, he is running a surplus due to inflation and as long as he can real in the inflation and the housing issue next year he should be o.k.

The voice wasn't mainstream, if it was mainstream it would have got up, if it was legislated it would have got up, it was a nonsense that couldn't be explained and was open to interpretation, that's why it couldn't be explained.

But it was going into the constitution, where as happened with the asylum seekers that have just been released, that interpretation can be challenged and what was intended can be actually thrown straight out the window.

Now we have the Government, running around like chooks with their heads chopped off, trying to sort the asylum seeker mess out.

60 % of the population felt that a similar situation could have eventuated with the voice, it is only your fanatical belief in anything Labor, that stops you from entertaining any other possibility or any other options.
Extrapolating that out, if you also remove those with a vested interest from the Yes vote and the inner city elites who actually know more about the Amalfi coast than Alice Springs, the Yes vote would have been a lot lower.

The right wing didn't vote against the Voice, the fact is only the left wing and a minority of the middle voted for it, the rest of the population voted against it that means the majority of the middle and the right, thought the proposal was flawed.

Anyway, lets get back to demonising old people spending their savings before they die, that's always a good staple for stirring up a bit of intergenerational hate.
These are the people who were voting for the Voice in droves, I mean that shows gratitude by the left wing media, from the wealthy intellectuals being major supporters of those most needy, to the demons of society in a few short week.

I hope they go back to a treaty proposal, nothing has changed from when Hawke was in, they believe they are owed for loss of land.
IMO move on, will only happen when they are compensated for perceived loss, that's even in our existing laws.
The rest is divisive and corrosive, we are one nation, we might one day have to stand shoulder to shoulder to protect it.
Having different recognitions depending on your race, religion or background won't work.

In public discourse, ie politics and media, the Overton window is way too the left and and view outside of that id "far right".

Look at Ireland ATM. Protesters angry at little girls being stabbed are "far right thugs".

But yes agree. It would be better if people were more reasonable with each other. Most are, but the extremists poison it all.

As they are tribal and associate with their prefered area, it would seem the obvious way forward.

Nah haven't given up just a realist that no politician will be in a hurry to address the issue ever again or at least until the current crop of Coalition grifters pass through. I think Dutton will try to do real damage any where he can.

I don't think they can stop the issue, it is rolling along, it has to be addressed one way or another.
It will be interesting closer to the election IMO.
