Watching day one. Melbourne 2020.
Interesting game.
Paine has proved himself worthy of being Captain.
Just as I typed that he nearly ran himself out.

Went to the MCG to watch the game. Bit cold and couldn't go in the bar, covid.

Burns was just sad, Travis Head was again disappointing, Smith wasn't his usual self. Pleased so far with Green.

As another Test cricket fan, one day I may be able to set foot on that hallowed ground, or any other to watch even just one days Test play!

Saw the Aussies play a One Day game against Pakistan at the SCG back in the 90's when the Hill was the "Hill". Great atmosphere and good entertainment. Even though the tourists were not at their best, as long as Australia win, and they did, I'm a happy chappy.

FWIW, was gifted "The Don" biography by Roland Perry (circa 1995) as a Chrissy present and have about 2/3 read. Wow, just wow! Apart from Bradman's amazing batting stats, the behind the scenes drama off the field and in his private life are real eye openers.

We have a great bowling side, but why is our batting so brittle ?

Maybe there is too much "Big Bash" and not enough longer forms of the game.

Some of the batsmen are overpaid for what they achieve.

Agree about Paine, he's taken on responsibility very well. Shame the batsmen let him down.

I think the selectors need a shake up as well, how they could pick Joe Burns is beyond all reasoning.

In any form of competition current form is vital, if a bloke is off the boil then pick someone else.

Nothing worse than being put under the pump when you know that you are out of form

Geez the Indians take a knee before practise

Warner is living on his reputation right now.

A couple more low scores and he should be gone.

Steve Smith too (yuk yuk).

The GOAT is having a blinder. But, off-spin really shouldn't be turning like this on day 2. I'm not sure if India ever water their pitches.

Gave themselves a chance then completely blew it playing sweep shots. Indians deserve to rub it in.

We have no idea how to play good spinners on turning wickets.

But did we need warm up matches ?

No way, we are too good for that.

Bulldust.

My understanding is that in the past two series, the Indian curators have served up piches in the warm up games that are totally different to what they would provide in a test.
Hence the experts that run the team decided practice in in Australia where the curators can ty to make a pitch much closer to Indian conditions would be more useful.
Has not helped a great deal so far in the first two tests.

Big congrats to the Australian Womens cricket team who have just won their sixth out of seven world cups finas.
Went through the series undefeated.
Have now won 19 out of their last t20 games.
Would have to be rivalling the great WI teams of the late 70's early eighties as the best all round cricket team in history.

It must be possible to do the same doctoring of pitches here in Australia on some practise wickets. Then get Lyon and co bowling to our batsmen or design some spin bowling robot.

It just shows how our batsmen and bowlers are in fantasy land playing on our pitches.
