commsec has stopped supplying indices xao, xjo in EOD prices / all securities / ASX equities / end of day downloads since 25/11/2010.
Also, I noticed that they stopped supplying the gold index a while ago in the same downloads.
There must be many charters out there like myself who are quite annoyed with this.
If you use Commsec, Please contact them about this to add to the weight of opinion.
Maybe we can force them to change.

It took 4 mins for a trade I placed through their iress platform to hit the market today....the stock moved 30c in that time.

I have used E*Trade for 4 years now - it has been faultless so far this year.

They even reduced the commission to $19.95 per trade now and if you trade 10 times a month IRESS is free.

I own no shares in E*Trade I am just a happy customer.

Thank you for your email in relation to end of day price data.

I understand that certain indices are not loading as part of your Charting software. We are aware that the End of Day Price Data is not including XAO, XJO and other indices. Currently our analysts and developers are investigating this to find the root cause of it not being included. We do consider this is be an urgent issue, I can assure you that once we've identified the cause of this an immediate fix will be implemented.

In the mean time, we can offer the complete end of day pricing information via email as an attachment. If you'd like this kindly provide a date and also the format of the data that you are after and we'll manually generate this for you.

We are here to help. If you have any other questions, or have any feedback regarding our service, please reply to this email, or call us on:

I had a situation like this early this year when I moved a large parcel of shares. When I asked comsec why the delay in processing, they advised that the size of the trade (a sell to get out of MIG before it went to ITO and the takeover offer was made) triggered a control check. It had to be manually viewed by a staff member to ensure it was not a "market manipulation" trade.

I don't know if you were trading a large parcel but I got arround it, going forward, by reducing the size of some trades.

I got the same email..... as I did email them.

To prove that dropping the indices was not a mistake (ie. intentional) on Commsec's behalf, you can see that they have also corrupted the "single security" download of the XAO, by adding 0's for the weekend dates and dropping the current day's trade figures.

It beats me as to why someone in Commsec has gone to so much trouble to inhibit/corrupt two seperate download sources.

I cannot see it being fixed "any time soon" as the XGD index disappeared several months ago and they never restored that, even after bringing it to their notice when it disappeared.

I advise all affected people to keep this thread active till something is done to rectify the situation, as public exposure is much more effective than individual mails to Commsec.
Use all 3 methods, ie. ASF, Email to Commsec, and Commsec chatroom-feedback/support (under news and research-chat rooms.

Contacted Commsec... as the indices are still missing....

They are still "looking into it"......

Agree with the previous poster. Don't know why you would force them to change.
Just switch brokers. There are plenty of other brokers who offer better service and price out there.

Hurrah !!!

After much cajoling, they finally restored all (almost all) of the indices.

Better than going thru all the hassles of switching brokers.

And... where else can you get a better interest rate on your liquid funds than Commsec.?? (I don't know of any).

The only other index I am aware of that is missing is XGD. (missing for a couple of months)

Interesting. You're getting back what you wanted. I noticed the news for companies working again (not announcements) - it seemed to go missing for me for a little while.

Yeah, the indices went missing again in 2012 when Comsec "upgraded" their website.

They restored indices eventually to "single security" download,

but

all indices, xao , xjo etc are still missing from end of day downloads:mad:
